I have to give my utmost thanks to /u/acenair836 for a copy of Torchlight 2 Fallout 4! My greatest wish this season has been granted.
Let me regale you with a story.
When I came to this subreddit, I wasn't expecting much. The image of your average redditor isn't....kind. So when I came to a group for gifting things I was speechless. I couldn't believe there was an entire subreddit dedicated to kindhearted people who give games to the needy.
After posting my first request 2 months ago and getting no responses besides a single person saying how I could get it free if I buy the steam controller or convince someone who bought it to give me their extra copy I thought I wouldn't have much luck in the future.
Despite this I thought I was being greedy. Lo and behold though I found an old code I had which seemed to still be good for a copy of Metro 2033 Classic. I didn't think this was good enough though. What if it didn't work. So I decided I would buy a copy of Metro 2033 Redux to give away. Lucky me it was on sale. I felt good, cheap, but good. You can find the giveaway here for anyone who would like a copy of Redux and hopefully a copy of Classic
Fast forward to yesterday. I made a request and put a good hour to maybe hour and a half into it. I tried coming up with what I thought was clever things to say, taking pictures of my fallout collection and fallout achievements on 2 different systems. I should have probably taken a pic of my Nerd Rage T-Shirt but that's besides the point.
I got a few well wishers, which I was thankful for, as well as a few general comments. Then /u/acenair836 came along.
You see, I had taken pictures of my "son" Tiberius because its the closest thing I have to a cat and the internet loves cats. Many comments were made about the little stinker, involving the desire for my gifter to touch my baby boy. Having no idea where this person was located I did the second best thing, I gave a virtual long distance hug and touch. In truth, I thought this was all just someone trolling me.
Hours and hours later he added me to their steam friend list. We talked about games, and about the /r/GiftOfGames group on steam (which I didn't even notice before on the sidebar) and I joined it. We talked a little longer and he told me that, sadly, he didn't have a Fallout 4 key anymore. I was crushed. My search would have to go on, it seems. Instead u/acenair836 offered a copy of Torchlight 2. It's a game I had looked into before but didn't have a huge interest in it. My heart was set on Fallout 4 being my next game. I declined the game, instead saying he should make an offer post in this subreddit to give it to someone who would for sure play it but no, he insisted. Back and forth the conversation went until finally I gave in and reluctantly took the code.
I copy pasted the code into steam and clicked next. At that point, as you all can tell by now, my jaw hit the floor. It was, in fact, not a code for Torchlight at all. It was a code for the most hyped game this year, Fallout 4. I got giddy, wiggled in my seat, and squealed a bit. This is coming from an adult male. I didn't know what to do. All I could do at this point was thank this kindhearted gentleman and quickly come to the subreddit to give a proper thank you, which I hope this is.
So this is the end of my story. And it has ended in a very excited and happy exo316.
TL;DR /u/acenair836 is a sneaky, sneaky, but kindhearted bastard. Thank you, my friend.
