Post Body

Hey r/Giftofgames! Today, I want to put in a request for Grand Theft Auto V. Before I continue, I would like to point out that the sale will end soon. So, Iā€™m putting this last ditch effort in order to see if someone would be willing to get me the game. Unfortunately, I do not think that I will be able to raise enough funds by the time the sale ends, so Iā€™m asking for some help. I absolutely love this game, and I canā€™t stress that enough. The main wave of GTA V requests has (mainly) died down, but I still want it, and I just havenā€™t had the luck to be able to get, or afford, it. I canā€™t think of a more perfect time to request this game, especially since itā€™s on sale. There are a couple more reasons why I want this game on PC, but Iā€™ll cover that below. I usually like to introduce myself before I put in an expensive request, so Iā€™ll start with that.

My online name is ragequitr2, but my friends call me rage. Hereā€™s my Steam ID (Feel free to add me, however, most of my games are from promotions and free indie games off of websites) How I got that name is irrelevant, but itā€™s quite a good story- maybe Iā€™ll tell it sometime. Letā€™s just say that it started with a certain CoD. I own a PS3 and a PC, and those two are my main sources of entertainment. I usually use my PC, but I use my PS3 once in a while for GTA V. Thatā€™s right- I already own GTA V on PS3, but I really want it on PC. Iā€™ll explain myself below, let me just continue with my introduction. Recently, Iā€™ve been playing Elite Dangerous, and spending some time on youtube. I also like watching CSGO games, and I was hoping to win my way to GTA V, and I actually did make enough money, but I got scammed out of my skins, and didnā€™t get the game. I kept 5$ and hoped I could make my way back, but no luck. I was severely bummed out, especially since the scam happened on my birthday, but thatā€™s just the way the world works I guess. So, here I am, as desperate as ever, trying to get the game. So without further ado, Iā€™m going to explain to you guys why I want this game, and why I absolutely need the PC version.

Rockstar has made some of my favorite games. From GTA III to Vice City, to San Andreas, Iā€™ve played them all and I absolutely love them. Open world games are by far my favorite type of game because you can literally do anything you want in them. You arenā€™t held back by the limitations of linear games. Thatā€™s probably why Iā€™ve spent so much time in the different GTAā€™s. People who only focus on the main story donā€™t really get the true experience. If I were to combine all the time I spent goofing around, it would probably surpass all the time Iā€™ve spent playing other games. Just exploring and roaming around in open world games is amazing. It consumes so much time, and before you know it, youā€™re in a place that youā€™ve never been to. GTA V is no exception. Iā€™ve spent around 900 hours both in the story and in online, and Iā€™m willing to bet that more than half of it is free roaming. And although I spend my time just messing about, donā€™t think that I donā€™t pay attention to the details of the game.

The attention to detail in this game blows my mind, and that adds to the reason why I love this game, and want it on PC. Iā€™m sure there are more details that theyā€™ve added in the PC version that the PS3 canā€™t handle, but it still amazes me what theyā€™ve been able to do on the previous gen. When you can devote a whole paragraph of praising the little details, you know youā€™re making a game right. After all, itā€™s the little details that really make the game what it is. Rockstar obviously wanted to create a game that is as close to real life as possible, and Iā€™d say, theyā€™ve succeeded. After a long drive, you can hear the ticking noise of your engine cooling down. When you drive a hybrid, you will hear quiet electric engine until the loud petrol engine takes over. When wading in water, your clothes get wet - but only up to the point you actually waded. The rest of you stays dry. Gas trails can become ignited by the carā€™s backfire. Thereā€™s so much I can list, but I don't think it would be practical to list it all. Itā€™s just one of the reasons that make me love this game, but thereā€™s so much more. I have full respect for games that pay attention to detail, and GTA V is no exception. Another thing, is the story mode. The story mode is amazing, and compliments the Online portion very well.

The story is a masterpiece. The way the story is told is revolutionary and one of a kind. Itā€™s told through the perspective of three different characters. Rockstarā€™s innovation is yet another reason why this game will stay in my memory forever. The story is full of non-stop action that will keep you on the edge of your seat until youā€™re done. The main plot is different than others, itā€™s not just a story of success, like most other game cliches. Thereā€™s failure and betrayal, and twists that you never would expect. The missions are fun and not at all repetitive, Iā€™ve played the story 3 times over, and I would be willing to do it again. I probably will, too, if I can get the game. And letā€™s not forget about the online mode. Iā€™ve spent around 800 out of 900 hours in the GTA Online, and I don't regret it. GTA O is basically The Elder Scrolls Online with guns. You can hang out with your friends, do missions, heists, or just drive around in the cars youā€™ve bought with dirty money. The main goal of GTA O is to earn moneyā€¦ and then spend it. I donā€™t know why Iā€™ve spent so much time doing that, but it was worth every second.

Now, enough with why I love this game, I should no explain why I need it on PC. One of the main reasons is because itā€™s on sale. I really wouldnā€™t request this game if it wasnā€™t on sale, but I am because it is. However, I believe that 60$ for this game is well worth the price with how much youā€™ll be spending in the game. I wish I could buy it for myself, but I donā€™t think thatā€™s possible right now. So, hereā€™s why I donā€™t think I can be satisfied with the PS3 version anymore- I need the PC version to continue with my GTA adventures.

Iā€™m really worried about my PS3. I donā€™t think itā€™ll live any longer than it already has. Iā€™ve had the PS3 for 5 years, and itā€™s served me well until a couple of months ago. Itā€™s started to really overheat and itā€™s fans get extremely loud. After a couple hours of play, the system starts to get slow, and I kinda start lagging in the game and in the PSN UI. Sometimes, although fairly rare, the PS3 will just shut itself down and I need to make sure nothing gets corrupted since itā€™s not advisable for a PS3 to suddenly shut off without warning. Although I can live through it and continue playing, Iā€™m fairly concerned that it will die soon. I usually only use it for GTA V, so if it dies, I wonā€™t be able to play my favorite game anymore, and Iā€™m sure everyone knows how it feels to not be able to play your favorite game anymore.

Another reason I really want the PC version is because Rockstar has officially stated that the PS3/ XB360 versions will no longer be updated. This is because of hardware limitations, and not neglect, but still, Iā€™m really disappointed that the PS3 version will no longer be getting updates.

ā€œā€˜As we mentioned previously, we always knew there might be a point where we would reach the technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle as each downloadable update requires additional memory both for assets and for additional scripting,ā€™ Rockstar told Kotaku UK. ā€˜We have continued to optimise the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall.ā€™ā€ Soruce

So, although itā€™s not Rockstarā€™s fault, I donā€™t feel like I can truly enjoy the GTA V experience anymore on the PS3. Just recently, Rockstar released the Lowrider DLC on the PS4, Xbone, and PC. Iā€™ve really been looking forward to this since the rumors started coming out. When I realized that it wonā€™t be on the previous gen, I absolutely knew that I need to get the PC version. One of the things I loved about Rockstar and their GTA V was their periodic DLC/ updates. It kept the game fresh and actually kept me playing. I loved earning money for the new items that Rockstar would put out, but itā€™s sad that that won't be possible anymore. Thatā€™s really why Iā€™ve started this request in the first place. I cannot bear the thought that I will no longer be getting updates.

Modding is another reason I want the PC version. My GTA: SA and Skyrim games are so modded that you wonā€™t even recognize them. However, thatā€™s kinda the way I like it. I love modding games to make them more suitable for me, and I would love to play with the LSPDFR mod, a mod that lets you play as the police. Iā€™m sure that even if I start getting bored of the game- although I heavily doubt it- I can mod the game to squeeze out even more playtime out of it. There are plenty more mods that I would love to try and test, but I would need the PC version first. Modding is absolutely great and itā€™s quite a shame that the consoles arenā€™t able to do itā€¦ they call it the PC master race for a reason ;)

  • Rockstar In-Game editor

I really really want to be able to play with this. I'm taking a film class, and I was hoping that maybe I can create a film within the game and turn it in for maybe a bit of extra credit. I'm sure with the graphics, he wont even be able to tell the difference between game and real life, so maybe, just maybe, It will help raise my grade in that class. Plus, imagine the look on his face when I tell him it's from a video game! My teacher has previously expressed that he doesn't like them, but maybe this will change his mind! I've seen many great artworks using the in-game editor, and I hope to make my own as well.

Thereā€™s plenty more out there, and Rockstar has said that thereā€™s plenty more that theyā€™ll add. Of course, I will be able to transfer over my PS3 character to PC so that I donā€™t need to start over, so Iā€™m also looking forward to that. Last but not least, the Halloween limited edition cars just arrived. I can't download the update for PS3, like I said above, and I really want to collect these ones. I've collected all the special edition cars ever since the beginning, and I really don't want to miss out on these ones. I know that it's a pitiful reason, but I might as well share it- I've been hoping for a Halloween update ever since the last even ended (Independence day event). And thatā€™s that. I absolutely love this game, and would really want it on PC. I would be eternally grateful if someone got it for me. However, for now, I would like to thank you for reading the whole thing, and taking time to consider my request. Feel free to check out the sale, and maybe buy yourself one too!
