[Request][PC] Grand Theft Auto V (40$ on sale on GMG)
Author Summary

Post Body

Hello r/GOG, Im ragequitr2 and I would like to request Grand Theft Auto V by Rockstar Games. I have a couple of reasons for posting right now instead of a couple months back when this game was all the rage. The main reason, and I would like to emphasize this reason, is that the game is half off right now at 30$ on Green Man Gaming. I figured that now would be a great time to request it since the main hype wave has calmed down. Of course, I'll probably never get over my desire for this game, so while others have most likely long forgotten about this game, it's always lingering in the back of my mind. The second semi-main reason for writing this request is actually for an educational purpose. It's mainly a personal thing, but for my American Literature class, I'm supposed to be able to create, and recognize rhetorical devices and persuasive essays. So hopefully, this request can benefit me in two ways, educationally and recreationally. Tengo que practicar mi español tambien, pero... es para el otro Día.

My experience with Rockstar games started a couple years ago with GTA III and GTA Vice City mobile on my iPhone in history class. Yes, that's really how it started. Ever since, I've explored many of their titles, and just in time for the announcement for GTA V. By that point, I had played most of the GTA's (Haven't played 1 or 2 yet) and I was very hyped for GTA V. I was able to get it on my PS3 and since then, I've logged nearly 900 hours on the game. Proof. Point is, I've invested a lot of time into rockstar games and I do not plan on stopping with my interest towards them. I still occasionally log on and play GTA V on my PS3, but I do believe that the PS3 version has become old and stagnant, which I'll explain later. Currently, the PS3 community has kind of died down and is just a shell of its former glory. Mostly everyone has migrated to current gen or PC, and I wish to join them. This saddens me quite a bit, especially since I've already invested much time in the game. It's only logical that I switch over to the PC version in order to enjoy the game to its fullest extent. If I switch over to PC, I know, for certain, that my time and experience will not be wasted. My profile will be transferred over, and I can continue where I left off. I fully intend to extend my time past 1,000 hours if I can get the game on PC since there are quite a few things I can do that are not possible on PS3.

There are a couple of reasons that I absolutely love this game. The game itself is a masterpiece, and the story even more so. The complex characters had me laughing, crying, and I shock, sometimes even at the same time. The multiplayer is fantastic. It's where I spent 90% of my 900 hours in the GTA V world. There are many, many, many things to do in the online realm, and that's why it has captured my attention for so long. It's a Skyrim with Guns. It's a huge MMO that, although some people don't enjoy as much as the campaign, I absolutely adore. The activities themselves did not get stale, it was the fact that I find it hard to truly enjoy the activities without friends or other players. However, I still enjoy casually driving around San Andreas enjoying the scenery. This is actually a really good way to calm down, especially if you just want to sit back and listen to a podcast. Admittedly, a fairly large chunk of my time in Los Santos is just driving around. It's cheaper than paying for gas, that's for sure. And it's not just that, either, but there's a weird feeling I have when playing, since I can do things in San Andreas that I can't do in San Diego. This probably isn't good, but I know more of the GTA V map than I do about my local area/ community. If someone gave me a picture of a building, I can attempt to locate it's area based on its architecture- and trust me, I've helped out a couple of people by doing that. If someone asks what car it is in a thread, I'll know the make/ model of it and its manufacturer. It's scary how much I know about this game.

Another, more urgent, reason I ask for this game is because Rockstar will no longer be updating the older version of the game. Just today, Rockstar released the Lowrider update which adds lowriders, car customization, weapons, missions, and other countless things. One of my favorite things about Rockstar and their GTA V game is that they provide free, constant DLC updates to the game which drastically change and improve the game in different ways. The community has been wanting lowriders, and it appears that they listened quite well since it actually happened. Now, the predicament I find myself in right now is- The PS3 version will not be having these awesome lowriders. The hardware simply cannot handle it and unfortunately, most likely will not be able to in future updates. That's why I want to migrate over to PC, so that I can enjoy the updates that Rockstar will release. Rockstar has not denied that there will be no more updates, and there are still quite a few things the community wants that needs to be fulfilled. I really want to be present when they add these things into the game. GTA V, I believe, will be a historical game that will be remembered like PACMAN and Tetris is remembered. I want to be able to say that I was there from its birth to its death- and I know that I will be if I can continue on with the PC version. There are also other attributes that the PC version has that the PS3 doesn't, which I will briefly list below:

  • Next gen exclusive DLC cars and weapons (which are all free) such as the Duke O' death armored car, the air/land/sea Dodo bird airplane, and the rail gun.

  • First person. You can enter first person on the next gen versions, which you can't do on PS3/ XB360. Side note- I liked to roleplay in GTA V, so this can really make things more realistic which is important in RP.

  • 30 player online lobbies. I'm mostly excited for this because of my association with Roleplay and stuff. 16 players really wasn't enough for us since our factions were too spread out on the map. 30 players is definitely enough.

  • A brand new addition to the GTA: V story mode following one of the main characters, Micheal.

  • A brand new editor to edit and record your gameplay.

And of course, the technical benefits like 1080p and 60FPS. I am used to GTA V's 720p and sub 30 FPS, so this will be a real treat when upgrading.

Open world games are my jam. They don't lock you behind a linear level, but give you freedom to do whatever you want to accomplish your goal. This goal can be anything from assassinating a target to delivering cars from point a to b. Either way, I still find it completely fun to do and worth every second of game time. Like I said, I plan on adding and adding to my play time for this game and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Before I leave, I'm gonna go ahead and tell you a bit about myself, since it's usually what I do. I take classes, as you can see, so my life isn't completely GTA V (unfortunately). I was saving up to get this game but I was scammed out of 40$ and now I don't have the means to buy the game. I live in SoCal, and have a PC good enough to run the game. Here is my Steam ID. Feel free to add me if you just wanna talk. I have recently been playing Elite Dangerous, another open world game, and it's really fun. But I really want to ask for GTA V right now since it's on sale, and the PS3 version is no longer supported.

Well, that's pretty much it. Thank you for reading my request, and thank you for also helping me out with school a bit. I understand this rhetorical material a little bit better thanks to this. Anyway, have a good day/night, and don't forget to check out the GTA V sale for yourself if you really want it. Good bye!

EDIT: The price of GTA V will only go down to 30$ if you add the 20% off coupon voucher while purchasing in the cart. Until you get to that part, it will show as 40$ until you input the voucher. It will be at that point that the price will go down to GTA V. Enjoy!
