Hey GOG,
I have a rather unique request. Rather than for a game, it's for a tool that would assist me in playing games I already have. It's a controller mapping tool, Pinnacle Game Profiler.
When I play my PC games, I prefer to relax on my couch and play on a tv screen, assisted with an xbox 360 controller. Unfortunately, most PC games can't be played with a controller, at least not easily. Or those that can be, don't have controller support built in (or the developers promise to get to it, eventually). Hence, controller mapping.
For anyone that's played Binding of Isaac, you may remember the Controls Option screen suggesting that if you want to play with a controller to use JoyToKey (it literally suggested to "Google it!"). That's when I first even learned about mapping. Then I tried, Joy2Key, Xpadder, Keysticks, Joystick to Mouse, etc.
But there was always one controller mapper that I never got my hands on, despite all its acclaims, and that's Pinnacle Game Profiler.
One of my favorite genres of games is the iso ARPG, which most of you know is click-to-move. Nigh impossible to play with a controller. While all ARPG's won't become playable because of Pinnacle, it will make the less intensive ones very enjoyable. And the harder ones, perhaps manageable.
Here is a quote that sums up the importance of Pinnacle Game Profiler over others (and it's very accurate, as I've had the same problem):
"The main reason for using Pinnacle is because of the “mouse spring” features that it has built in. No other software (that I was able to find) really does this well. By using mouse spring, when the joystick is at rest the mouse will return to the center of the screen."
Now, what game would I intend to play? Hmm, let's see:
- Diablo 3
- Path of Exile
- Dungeon Souls
- Titan Quest
- Pillars of Eternity
- Divinity Original Sin (though it's getting controller support soon)
- Wasteland 2, if I ever got it (they're also adding controller support)
- And many more...
That about sums it up. Ok, thanks for reading!
