Some of the people who have gifted like to go back and thank the people who actually play the stuff they gifted. I'd like to do the same but for the people who have gifted me.
Also, please don't read all these lol. They're boring and repetitive
/u/charredgrass- Xbox Live
I love talking with you man. You really gave us a scare when you made your post. You're a great guy. When you heard that I had wanted Xbox Live and gotten severely downvoted for it, you didn't hesitate to send me a code. The code was 1 year of Xbox Live. I promised you that I would use it regularly. And I do. I play Destiny every other day with the friend I made online. I play Titanfall and it's even become my favorite fps game. I play GTA and get fucked over by everyone else. But the point being is that you've gifted me the ability to reach out to other players and play with them.
Thank you.
/u/Pseudomanifold- LIMBO, Amnesia, Psychonauts.
I played these games religiously whenever my roommate turned off the internet. LIMBO especially helped me through a somewhat tiring part of my life. I saw things in black and white (metaphorically) and life didn't seem to be getting any better. Playing LIMBO and reaching that ending shone a new light on things and gave me the courage to move on.
Thank you
/u/ItsAWildBunny- CSGO Operation Bloodhound
Not only did you wait the 2 weeks so that it was tradable, you decided to get me this after hearing that I was just getting into CSGO and wanting it. You bought me the pass without hesitation and you waited with me. I've played a lot of CSGO since then. I'm now Silver Elite! Recently, I've slowed down my play time because I want to get other games in but I still play a round or two a week to see how I hold up.
Thank you
/u/Everons - Witcher 3
This was the first game that I ever got for the Xbox One. You came to me on a request I had up for Xbox Live, said you were sorry that you couldn't get me Live, but instead offered me one of the best Western ARPGs to date. I love this game. Sure, at times I get frustrated because I got gangbanged by 5 armored guards but the scale of the game and the scenery really make up for that. I enjoy this game very much and I can't wait to do New Game plus in about 100 hours lol.
Thank you
/u/Nahvec - Dungeon Defenders Collection
Your giveaway was so out of the blue. But I entered it anyways. It was awesome of you to gift me such an amazing multiplayer game. Now if only I could convince my friends to play it. I played over an hour of the game alone and still had a lot of fun, but this is a game I hope to put more time in, when I find the people to do it with.
Thank you
/u/RealSheriff- Diablo II and LoD expansion
The one who started it all... You gifted me after a giveaway gone awry left me with no game. It was my first request ever and you saw that. Since then I have put in over 100 hours into this game, beaten Diablo's ass about 15 times (with friends) and overall had so much fun playing this game. This game is an experience that I'll never forget and it was amazing of you to gift it to me. The story, the gameplay, and the people playing it brought it all together and I hope to replay it one last time on the hardest difficulty soon.
Thank you
/u/nrussell1945- Crysis 2
The one thing I have to say about this game is. Goddamn it's fucking beautiful. I can barely run it on the lowest graphics settings but that doesn't bother me. The game is just so beautiful. Everything from the scenario, buildings, people, even the guns reloading look nice. The gameplay is fun and a lot of it is reminiscent of Crysis 1. I have yet to beat this game (maybe when I get a desktop?) but I promise that I will.
Thank you
/u/Benxie0- The Ship
A quirky game of Who-Dunnit. I really wasn't expecting much from this game. I was interested in it because it was a GOG Gamenight game (back when it was run by the mods) and I heard it was decently fun. And it is. It brings back memories of playing Garry's Mod gamemods (TTT and Killer) and I really wish we could bring it back for another gamenight. The single player was not really my tastes as I found it's just the multiplayer without actual people.
Thank you
/u/nomnaut- Trine 2
This game (oddly enough) is such a unique platformer. It was also a pain in the ass to install. It took me about 30 minutes to get it working but when I did it was worth it. The game has a lot of bloom (which I hate. It hurts my eyes) but is quite lovely at the same time. I've put it aside for now because I want to devote time to play a large chunk of it in one sitting. But the gameplay is one of the most unique (among platformers) and it's clever and makes me think. (Wizard master race.)
Thank you
/u/likhatjev- Speedrunners, Darksouls Prepare to Die, Arkham City: GoTY, Cities Skylines, Darksouls II Scholar of the First Sin
Oh arga... Again, I'm sorry for lashing out at you, it was stupid of me to do so. But on the bright side of things, all the games you've gifted me have landed spots in my top 50 favorite games list (let's be honest top 10s are so last year). Speedrunners is my favorite multiplayer platformer. There are so many good players that most of the time I lose, but I have a lot of fun losing. Dark Souls 1, I have YET TO FUCKING beat the gargoyles... I really messed up when I was making my character and during leveling up (chose to take a lot of strength and stamina...) and couldn't beat the gargoyles (also for some weird reason, couldn't summon anyone). So I've restarted the game and am hoping to find motivation to force myself to start playing it again. Arkham City is an amazing Batman game. (My favorite being it's predecessor Arkham Asylum). The openworld shows off the world of Arkham and shows how annoying it is to be Batman. I've beaten the game once already (when I had it pirated) and plan to beat it again. Cities Skylines was such a surprise. I'm not a big fan of management games (unless it's troops and bases RTS FTW) and wasn't expecting to really like this game. However, Cities Skylines sits at #20 in my favorite games list so there's that. There's a reason it's better than Sim City.
You've also given me a LOT of advice and a lot of good advice too. You're extremely humble (to the degree where one time I was proud of you, for you). You've gone through a lot of stuff which let's you relate to me the most. A lot of times I feel like you know exactly how I feel for real. You're insightful, kind, and all you ever want for the people you gift, is that they pay it forward. Be it through kindness in everyday life or gifting another person, you want everyone to be the best they can and even at their worst you see the best.
(I thought I saved that quote you said but I can't find it right now and I'm sad about that....)
Thank you
/u/Last_Minute_Hero (/u/TheLastMinuteHero) Blade Symphony, Magicka
Dave! We haven't talked much but I still think you're a great addition to this community. You've gifted me Blade Symphony (sadly a dying game) and Magicka (which my friends loved). I appreciate everything you've done for GOG as a whole and it's nice to see you're back. You mean a lot to us and if you ever feel down think of all the people's lives you've touched here.
Thank you
/u/IzTheFizz- EYE: Divine Cybermancy
This is such an odd game. Sadly the multiplayer is dead but the singleplayer is weird. It's kinda like a roguelike FPS? You're expected to die a lot and you do upgrade a lot of powers. I really don't know... But it's fun!
Thank you
/u/D9sinc- Vertical Drop Heroes HD
I fucking loved this game as a flash game. And surprise surprise I still love it now. I played a bit with my roommate (before he quit on me calling me a "stupid dildo muncher" or something along those lines. this was a while ago). It's an amazing Roguelike that doesn't get talked about at all. But I love it. and I had lots of fun with it.
Thank you
/u/NuriCZE- Humble Gamemaking Bundle
Hi boss. I'm still working on the games don't worry. I'm almost done writing the story, script, and characters. Just be prepared to receive that sweet sweet 10 cents I'm going to earn when I sell my game. ;)
But seriously, I enjoy coding (no I don't...) and I'm having a lot of fun screwing around with these tools. Hopefully, I can start coding my game soon and we can see a finished project in a few years... Hope to see you then boss.
Thank you
/u/FlaxxtotheMaxx- Arkham Knight
Flaxx!!! Where you at gurl? I miss you, you were the one chill person in the chat and then they decided to be creepy and you just left us all of a sudden. It sucks. I loved talking to you. I still remember my "fun fact" that won me this game. $1 hotdogs. I really hate myself Flaxx. I can't fucking play this game because it's STILL A BUGGY PIECE OF SHIT. I was so hyped to play it but I still can't do anything about it. I promise Flaxx I'll marathon it when they iron out a majority of the bugs and glitches. And come back to chat. I promise Azure will keep the dummies in check.
Thank you
You really tricked me you sneaky bastard. Telling me that you weren't going to consider me for your giveaway. But when you did. It was nice. It was a real surprise and it was well worth it. I love this game. I love the story mode. I love how every fucking time I try to play Online the game either bugs out and kicks everyone in the server or I get fucked over by a 9 year old screaming into the mic how he totally fucked me over with a goddamn tank.
You were my summer santa giftee and it was fun looking for games to buy for you.
Hope you play them as much as I play GTA V
Thank you
/u/niftybunny- Starwars KoTor
I deserve a lot of hate for this one. I haven't put in as much time as I hoped to. I've heard so many good things about this game. But the graphics, the gameplay, the awful old gamey camera controls just turn me away from this game. If you want I will gladly force (get it. force) myself to play the game but I am so sorry, I just can't get into it. I really thank you for the gift. Maybe if I can find some mods to fix a lot of stuff I can play it.
Thank you
/u/slashsighh- Chivalry complete
This is another gift that came out of nowhere. In a discussion during the Summer sales I was convincing another user to buy the game. It really is an awesome game (community sucks though, and recently the game has been dying so the devs have been putting in a LOT of cosmetics to pay for). The gameplay is the BEST sword gameplay in a game (that I've played) and I would have gladly payed full price for it. But you came out of nowhere and decided to buy it for me. Thank you. I still play this every few weeks with friends, yelling like retards and accidentally team killing. (I use the sling because I'm a baller).
Thank you
/u/DjSouFuck- Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble
Lol. You probably don't even remember when you gifted me this. I picked it up when you pasted your google spreadsheet in chat asking if anyone wanted these games that no one else wanted. It's a nice platforming game. Suffers from a few control issues but it's nice. But what you've given me most of is solid advice and an ear to listen to my troubles. You would always listen when I was in a time of need (even if it did take you a while to respond. but hey. you're a busy dude) and you've given me a lot of great advice. I can trust you with any information and I know you're not going to fuck me over (because either you don't really care or you're just chill that way). 2morereviewsuntilED (hoping you remember this)
Thank you
/u/Ali-Sama- Acceleration of Suguri, Suguri
hugs. Ali you're just great. You're always positive no matter what and I can rely on you to make me feel good. You think you're not a cool guy but you're wrong. You're really cool man. No one else here leaks the positivity that you do. Even when assholes are yelling at you and cursing at you, you are always kind and make sure not to get mad.
You're also always messaging me with cool Xbox One goodies and giveaways. Thank you Ali. Hugs.
Thank you
/u/jmod5710 Depth, Stick RPG 2, Of Orcs and Men
I'm always giving you shit doc. Always talking crap about you (especially when you're not in chat. hoooowee...) But you're a really nice dude. (Don't tell anyone but you're my favorite) You always bring actual discussion about games and I envy you for being smart enough to use the market to your advantage. The game you gave me is also the reason why I started to review games on Steam. It was fun and really gave me reason to review it. You're levelheaded and not 100% annoying like most of chat.
Thank you
/u/TheAzureDragon- Skullgirls, Halo MCC, Bastion
I could talk about the games you've given me. And how great they are. (Which they are btw. Also I'll start Halo 3 next week I guess). But you've given me something far more precious than games.
You've given me a friendship (or I hope you think of us that way...). We've talked about some pretty serious stuff and helped each other through tough times. You really think down on yourself but I think you're great. Remember when you PM'd me that picture of you (no not the naked ones)? I told you, you were a solid 8-9. I wasn't lying bro. You look great. You're personality is a 9.5, one of your biggest flaws is that you don't think highly of yourself. You've been hurt by a bitch and I know you're trying not to make a big deal about it right now. But fuck that. I'll be here to talk to you when you need it and I know that you'll be there when I need you. Unlike a certain someone, I really do need you in my life. You're a great anchor of security when I need. And you're a cutie patootie. (I'm still not going to tell you why you're so goddamn cute) (ps no homo)
Thank you
/u/MajorBen1997- Xbox One
Ben, my friend, where are you bro? It's been way too long since I last heard from you and I've been telling arga that I'm worried about you. I haven't heard from you since you gifted me and it's starting to worry me. You've gifted me one of the best things in my life and I use it nearly every day. It's brought me so much happiness and some days I feel like I'm only happy playing it. I've gotten so many good games man. I'm having so much fun. and thanks to charred I can even play online. Please respond to this post so I can stop keeping you on my mind.
When I "won" this xbox I wasn't trying to get it. I really wanted to give you some advice because depression is something that's been haunting me since my brother's death and even to this day it's constantly fucking me over. Honestly, /u/likhatjev probably has better advice than I do in the subject. He's helped me a lot and he could talk with you if you wanted.
Please come back...
Thank you
/u/AakashMasani- Summer Santa gifts, trading
Hey. You were my summer santa. I've tried my best to put in a lot of time into all the games you got me. (My favorites being Dishonored and Heavy Bullets). You're a nice kid (yeah. kid) and the worst mod. You refuse to give me my payment in the form of a gif, but hey. Who even owns a Trex costume? You used to play CSGO with a trackpad.... I also beat you to the throne in under 100 hours (suckit). But still. You're a great guy. We've traded many times before. And the best part is I can trust you. Unlike certain people who will fuck me over and take my csgo inventory, I can trust you not to fuck me over when we're trading. We've traded HumbleBundles, ESO, other stuff and I always know that you're not going to screw me and leave me here without giving me my stuff. Hell, that one time I gave you a ~$30 skin to get me a $20 deal because of how much I respect you (and I did owe you i guess)
Thank you.
/u/freedomtacos- Nuclear Throne, Braid, panties, sweet sweet loving, my laptop, my desk, headphones, my phone, books, sandwich, mustard, emails, illicit emails, GAME OF THRONES TELLTALE, and I guess other games too...
Hi.
You don't need me to tell you how much you mean to me dude. You already know.
But if you REALLY want me to write you a paragraph or so on why you mean so much to me? I will.
Thank you
In conclusion, all of you on this list (and not on the list. I've been writing these from memory so I'm 100% sure I've missed a couple of you. Please PM me saying "wtf bruh" and telling me what you've gifted me so I can add you to this list) are special. I'm sure you're special to other people too, be it in real life or here in the subreddit.
But all of you have touched me. You were all there for me when I needed you, whether it be in hard times or when I was in the bathroom. You've all given me something more than games. The saying "It's the thought that counts" really doesn't mean jack shit most of the time. But in times like this I feel it's most appropriate. These games (for the most part) are physically nonexistant. But it truly is the thought that counts. Every game I have ever received has made me feel good about myself and thankful to the gifter.
So again, thank you, to you all. You've made me extremely happy this past year (i think?) and I hope you're out there making others happy too. I will cherish these gifts and these memories. Obviously, my gifted 30 flair really makes a lot of users mad but I hope that they see that these gifts weren't for naught. I really did enjoy all of them and I hope that you don't think that I am greedy. I enjoy gaming and nearly everyone here does too. This subreddit goes to show that a fellow friend and gamer will help another fellow friend and gamer in a time of need.
Thank you.
Happy gaming, my friends.
:)
Edit: More people!
/u/JpsCrazy- Gauntlet and Family share
You crazy bastard. When are we going to play Gauntlet? lol
I know we give you a LOT of shit (james and I) about Gauntlet but let's be honest here. Neither of us want to really play it. BUT when we do, we have a lot of fun. And yeah, we should play more often. (Dj is pretty much nonexistant in the game). At the same time you're family sharing with me. And that's great. Because you're hardly ever playing so that means I get to play more. Don't feel pressured to play Gauntlet, we'll play whenever. Games are meant to be enjoyed not forced.
Thank you
