My request is going to focus mostly on Space Engineers. BUT since I'm also requesting the $18 tier as a whole I think that it's only fair that I write a smaller segment for each game.
Space Engineers
Back in "the day" I used to play a lot of minecraft. I was very partial to vanilla minecraft but I did dabble in the occassional Hexxit, Big Dig, Pokecraft, and other fun mods. I especially had a LOT of fun playing with my friends with these varying mods. Day after day, afterschool we would all log into a private minecraft server and play together. The crafting, the mining, the minecrafting. We built huge forts and acted out large battles with 5-6 people. One thing that I had a lot of fun doing was making an arena and spawning a bunch of monsters in it and surviving.
But enough about that, why even bother talking about Minecraft when what I'm requesting is Space Engineers? What could Minecraft possibly have anything to do with Space Engineers?
It comes down to a couple things.
** Exploration, Crafting, Sandbox, Building, Mining, Friends, Betrayal, Hurt....**
All of the above^ can be found in both Minecraft and Space Engineers.
Space Engineers is an "openworld" sandbox game set in space. A majority of the game is about exploration and building things.
Here is a quote from the Steam page.
Space Engineers is inspired by reality and by how things work. Think about modern-day NASA technology extrapolated 60 years into the future. Space Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and doesn't use technologies that wouldn't be feasible in the near future.
meaning, the devs are actually trying to make it so that this game has realistic physics and is as realistic as it can be while still maintaining the fun factor.
Why do I want Space Engineers?
I have about 2-3 close friends who actively play this game. I family share with one of them and actually got to try the game for quite a bit. I found it really enjoyable and definitely one of the "good" early access games (along with Don't Starve, Nuclear Throne, and many more).
I enjoyed playing with my friends and it was definitely a fresh experience (at the time). (This was months ago though, and from what I hear, the game has added a lot of new things in that time)
The antigravity is one of the best I have seen in a game not only does it look cool/nice, it controls quite well. On the topic of controls, the space craft controls are also really smooth and nice.
On top of being a survival/crafting game, there are also mentions from the devs, how the game can be played as a tactical shooter. So if you get tired of the whole crafting aspect that many Early Access games adapt, you can play this game as a shooter!
Overall, this is a great game for fans of the Survival/Crafting genre but it still has it's places in the adventure/shooter genres too. It seems to be a wonderful game, and the community is fairly helpful.
At the price it's going at ($18 in the humble bundle) I think it would be a wonderful pick up.
Outland
Outland seems to be a special platformer. From the videos (gameplay) that I've seen it seems to work like the dead realm mechanics from Guacamelee (and I'm sure many other games too). You shift back and forth between realms while platforming your way to the end of the level. I personally love shift mechanics in video games (The recent DMC game comes to mind) and I can see myself playing this game (or finishing it) if I receive it.
I also found myself liking the soundtrack to this game. I feel that it really shows the depth of the game and the tone.
Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes
This is a turn based tactical game set in a fantasy... setting.
From what I've seen, it is a standalone expansion of a different game (I have not played that game). The game looks simple enough but also visually pleasing. It seems like a great game to set aside for slow weekends.
Also, I'm a huge strategy/rts guy so that's a plus.
Mercenary Kings
This game is best compared to Metal Slug. 2D side scroller shooter.
As someone who grew up primarily with only a PC I used to have a lot of those CD thingies that no one knows about nowadays. I had Starcraft, Sim City, Pajama Sam, Sim Farm ( i think?), and a bunch of free cd games from cereal. I also had a Metal Slug disk. It played basically like an arcade port meaning you would press the 0 on the num pad to insert a coin to play the game.
It was fun.
This game looks like an updated version of Metal Slug. AND it's multiplayer too! The cartoony vibe is cool too.
Endless Space
Woop woop! Another strategy game! This one definitely has a more serious vibe then Fallen Enchantress.
Holy shit. This game looks really fucking complicated to play. However, it's not something that I would just abandon.
Looking it up on Steam, it's a 4x, turnbased, space, strategy game. I like hexbased games, mostly because they look beautiful.
The Stanley Parable
The Stanley Parable is (if you say it in the most basic way) a walking simulator. However, it's goddamn near one of the best walking simulators. All your choices in this game are humorously judged by the whimsical Narrator. He is amazingly written and amazingly voiced by Kevan Brighting. The Narrator will be annoying and call you out on everything and just be a complete ass. But he is literally the highlight of the game.
The Stanley Parable got popular because of Youtubers and well... it was extremely well written. The game is humorous. And like I said, sure, it's a walking simulator. But it's a funny and well written walking simulator.
The achievements are ridiculous and probably drive achievement hunters mad.
I don't really see myself being patient enough for the one where you have to not play The SP for 5 years...
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II
This game, Space Engineers, and Screencheat are definitely what I want the most ( all the games are amazing though) from this bundle.
TIAVHII (The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II) is a Diablo-esque game (or ARPG) set in a fantasy world of fairytales.
Lately, I've been relying on Path of Exile for my Diablo fix (for when you get those diablo II urges) but this game could easily take the place of PoE.
The hud for this game looks nice and the game as a whole looks nice.
I've heard that it's pretty hard but nothing a good ol' crying and whining can't fix ( or getting gud)
I wasn't much of a fan of the Van Helsing action movie from... 2004. It was ok, but felt unneeded.
Van Helsing as a character is pretty badass. He travels the lands fighting evil monsters and myths and killing shit.
Screencheat
I actually got to play Screencheat during the beta. Had a lot of fun with my friends. And I think that it's one of the most unique gamemodes I have ever played. The whole basic of Screencheat is reminiscent of the good ol' days where you would play Halo (or for you older peeps Golden Eye) and take a little sneak peak at your friends portion of the screen to see where they were and murder them.
Screencheat takes that idea and puts it into an online multiplayer game. But there's a twist. Everyone is invisible. So you need to cheat your way and look at everyone's screen to see where they are. You can use a a varying amount of silly weapons like the candelabra (the thingie that holds candles), the hobby horse (a toy horse that you ride), and the wallhacker (bullets penetrate all walls).
The game is deliciously fun romp and the rounds are fairly short. It's a unique twist on the arena fps genre.
Freedom Planet
I know nothing about this game. Reading the Humble Bundle description the game sounds cute.
Fight your way across the oriental world of Avalice where cats are green, motorcycles drive up walls, and monster girls do most of the buttkicking! Freedom Planet is a cartoony, combat-based platform adventure that pits a spunky dragonoid and her friends against an alien attack force.
I can see myself being judged for playing this. Mainly by /u/freedomtacos. But who cares about what he thinks. (NO ONE THAT'S WHO).
If I could only say one thing about this game it would easily be the word cute.
Cute platforming beat em' up game.
Coin Crypt
Top down
Rpg
Rogue-like
Randomly generated
The combat in this game seems simple and nice.
However, this is the weakest game in my request. I don't think I can write a lot about it other than it seems fun. I also don't think it should have been in the second tier because IMO (from pictures and gameplay only) it seems like a $1 tier game. HOWEVER, it does seems fun and I would love to give it a try.
In conclusion, I would love the 3rd tier of the Humble Bundle that includes all the games because, this is a really cool bundle and all the games interest me, even if some entries are weaker than the others I will enjoy them immensely.
Space Engineers is an amazing game and if you think of it like this, the bundle is definitely worth it.
Space Engineers is currently $25 on steam.
The 3rd tier (that's the one with Space Engineers) is only $18.
If you think of it as buying me a copy of Space Engineers for $18 and then gifting me 9 amazing games as an added bonus. It sounds good, no?
Here is my Steam.
Here is a link to the humble bundle.
If needed I will provide my email.
Thank you for reading this really long really boring request!
Have a nice game!
Edit: and no... I don't actually have 92 grabbed it's a joke between the mods and I.
