Hello, good people of GoG !
I highly recommend reading the whole post. Who knows what you might learn ;)
Ori and the Blind Forests is a masterpiece of an game. A game that went under radar for most people when it released earlier this year. I had the pleasure of playing this game few weeks ago when i bought it off the Steam summer sale. Due to an price error on Steam few days ago, Ori and the Blind forest went on a unexpected sale, at -75%. During that 20 minutes i bought two copies of the game, one which i have already gifted. And the another one, i'm going to give away here at GoG. Because i want this game to be received by someone who truly wants to play the game and really cares, i will hide an extra rule somewhere in this post, so please read the whole thing carefully. Most likely some of the entrants have skipped this part already and went straight to the rules section.
Ori being a small game, published by Microsoft studios for their Xbox Live Arcade library, went largely un-noticed by me and lots of other people. I first learned about Ori during E3 2014. I saw the trailer...and mostly forgot about it. A platformer with colorful graphics style among a sea of other similarly styled games. Nothing to see here, move along. I didn't remember this games existence until late March this year when i was listening to my favorite gaming podcasts and heard praises for it. Ori was back on the radar and summer sale was coming in couple of months. Ori really was the only game i wanted from that sale. So everyday on the Gift of Games steam chat i asked "Is Ori on sale yet" or "Surely Ori will be on sale next". Now to interrupt the mostly meaningless story for the extra rule: please included at least two of the following words in your entry to the giveaway: "Care", "Emotion" or "Feelings". If you do not understand this rule/have question about it, send me an private message and i will help. Yes yes, this is a blatant copy of what Saadieman AKA The White Wolf did on his own giveaway, but is a really good way to see who actually read the whole thing. SO back the the story that is here to mask the extra rule. When the Steam summer sale was nearing its end, Ori finally went on sale. Few minutes after the sales had changed, i started receiving messages on steam: "dude, did you buy it" "Ori is on sale"! and so on. So i bought it. I downloaded it and played it. So rarely has a game touched me so much. Amazing art style, emotional rollercoaster of an story, beautiful music and challenging gameplay make this one of the best games i have ever played. Easily my game of the year so far. Even topping Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. These are two very different games so its not wise to start comparing them too much, but Ori and the Blind Forrest is a piece of art that should be experienced. Hence this giveaway.
Rules:
Respect the reddit and subreddit rules
Remember that one thing that loads of people tend to forget.
- What game has touched you the most?
OR (You can answer to both if you feel like it :)
- The age old question: Are all video games art?
- Giveaway will stay open for around 48 hours.
Note: Ori and the Blind Forest is relatively challenging platformer, so a controller like Xbox360 gamepad or Logitech F710 is recommended, BUT not required to play the game.
Pro tip: Listen to this calming tune while writing your request comment.
