Hello GoG.
First off,
Tl;DR: I just got a new console, not having to worry about Live for one year would be so awesome.
As some of you may know, I recently got gifted an Xbox One from /u/MajorBen1997. Amazing gift and literally the best gift I have ever received. It arrived 2 days ago and I've already been enjoying it so much.
The Xbone came with 2 weeks of free Xbox Live. Which is ok. The free games for this month are Massive Chalice (which so far is really fun) and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag (fucking amazing) and I've been having a shitload of fun so far.
However, what worries me is that once the 2 weeks runs out I can no longer play them. Which sucks.
My History with Consoles (Surprisingly not a sob story)
I'm going to start my backstory around the time the Wii came out. (when I was in middleschool). My mother was quite proud of my grades (at the time lol) and offered to buy one console of my choice. Around that time all my friends were playing Super Smash brothers Brawl and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I loved playing Brawl so instead of going for the Xbox 360 or the Ps3, I chose the Wii.
It wasn't a bad decision but sometimes I look back on it and regret it a very very small bit. The Wii was definitely really fun but I missed out on some really cool games on the other consoles.
And that was the last console I ever bought because I never got good grades again ( I was a bad boy.) and now in my first year of college I don't have a job to get a console.
However, that all changed when I got gifted the Xbox One.
Games
I have a decent laptop (I can run Payday 2 on medium, and some other games) but it's far from being able to run new AAA games so having a new console is amazing. But like I said no job so for a while games are going to be off the list.
I was debating on requesting a game (GTA V or Halo MCC) but I decided 1 Year of Xbox Live was far more worth and far more useful. With Live you can play online, you get 2 (I think) games a month, and get to use all other Xbox Live/Gold features.
It just makes more sense, 2 free games a month for 1 year, or ONE game that I won't be able to play online because I don't have Live.
Surprisingly, the exclusives for Xbox One (although not many) are pretty good. My favorite exclusive (like most people) are the Halo games.
Why I want to be gifted
I was trying to find a proper way to phrase this section. "Why I should be gifted" or "Why you should gift me" sound really needy so I'm going to go with why I want to be gifted. It's a new console, it seems obvious that I would want games for it (sorry T.T ). There are going to be some people who are going to give me shit/ downvote this post because they think I'm being greedy. "Oh he just got a console gifted and now he wants someone to buy him things FOR it?" And to those people, I apologize. I know that it seems a bit greedy, but I know for a fact I won't be able to buy Live or games for myself and this subreddit is where I turn to for nonessential things that relate to gaming. Gaming has always been a huge part of my life and this subreddit is amazing.
Price
Currently there is an amazing deal going on Here.
The regular price for 1 year of Live is $60. Which is pretty high. HOWEVER, right now this website is holding a deal and selling 1 year for $31.49
That's nearly exactly half the price.
(I wouldn't be requesting if it was full price)
The code is instant delivery so as soon as you buy it, they send you the code. If you need proof that this isn't a scam website a bunch of people over at the XboxOne subreddit tested it out and bought Live. Link here. So it's not a scam website and completely trustable.
In conclusion, I think requesting Live would be more beneficial for me because then I wouldn't have to worry about it for one year.
Here is a sneaky deeky ps. (If anyone has any spare Xbox One game spare codes lying around, please don't offer them to me. However, tell me so that I could write a request for it and THEN you can gift me. Only seems fair)
Thank you for reading!
