Hi, /r/GiftofGames, I'm not around much and I don't post much. I've been here for a while and I've won several giveaways. However, not every game I can play. I tend to overestimate how much my laptop can handle and the time that I can allocate to play them. That is why I do not usually make requests. However, this must have been an exception or the desperation's talking, but I would like to try making one now. It's about one of the biggest MOBAs that I've been playing for more or less 2 years: DotA 2
- Background
Every year, Valve exhibits a tournament to determine the best players/team in the competitive world of DotA 2. It is called The International. It is a worldwide tournament, divided into several regional qualifications. Then, everything summits in the KeyArena in Seattle where only the best among the bests will compete. All's in for the highest title in the world of competitive DotA 2. The International 2015 marks the fifth installment of the largest competition in DotA 2 embroidered with Hats, prize pool that continues to grow, and an awesome experience of watching matches that will define the title, the future gameplay, and the development of DotA 2.
- What do I want?
The International Compendium 2015. The International comes with a digital ticket. A bundle called the Compendium. It is the tradition traced back to the third The International back in 2013. A compendium can be leveled up to get extra items or Hats. It's the golden book that you can see in the DotA 2 Store
- What does it entail?
Although I call it digital ticket, The International is a free-to-watch international tournament which you can watch from DotA 2 Client. So, you might ponder what you actually get from it. The answer is Hats, challenges, chances to win more Hats, sentimental values, and participation values. It does not look as rewarding as it seems in writing, I gotta say. The hats can be sold, of course, but that will defeat the sentimental values. I believe that, for those who have clocked several hundred hours in DotA 2, there is a certain attraction which just pulls you into it.
- Why can't I buy it myself?
To be honest, that's the plan. I've been saving up for a while. I'm working freelance so steady income is not part of the lifestyle. That's where another plan of mine comes in. I've been planning on applying for scholarships abroad and one of the requirements to do so is by taking a TOEFL test. Among the two priorities, one must be sacrificed and I think you can guess which one that I pulled through. Don't worry though, I got a pretty good result from it. So, it paid itself, I guess.
- Why should I get I want?
Okay, I'm stuck here. I don't quite know if I deserve this, considering I get gifted several times already and I might not live up to the promise of playing the games due to the reasons I stated above (both games that I got gifted here or gifted somewhere else). All I can say is I've clocked 1,8k hours in DotA 2 (God knows how many hours in the original DotA), I play mean support position, I have friends that will play with me almost every single day and I wish nothing more than be a part of the biggest tournament in the world of competitive DotA 2.
- Summary
I know it might not be a stellar request, but it's worth a try. I have nothing more to offer but this complementary Panda gif. This is the DotA 2 store link for The International 2015 and my Steam ID. I'm grateful for the attention and the time you spare to read this. I hope I don't bore you or, God forbid, waste your time. Thank you again, GoG.
