I have constantly been juggling between MMOs right now and I can't seem to hit the right spot. I remember last year I was really looking forward to Neverwinter but it never appealed to me. DDO is empty and LOTRO character got deleted because it was inactive for a long time. GW2 doesn't appeal to me. I guess it's because of the weapon skills and the idea that you can utilize almost everything from the start. I have tried Rift but it seems kinda bland and boring. Archeage has a long ass queue. There are reports of guys waiting for hours on end just to get in and suddenly the game crashes on them. I have tried it but it felt meh. I'll probably log in from time to time to go on and try the sandbox aspect.
I was super happy when ARR finally launched a free trial. Immediately downloaded it and wow it was running good on my new laptop. Tried out the different classes and it reaffirm my decision to get it. Problem is, no one in my country sells it. The shops that used to sell it have not restocked and the Steam version is blocked in my region (having it gifted will work though, because Dark Souls was blocked here too but was able to play it after it was gifted). What's weird is that they constantly sell the 60 day game time even if they don't sell the game. I have been checking out some of its screenshots and lurk around the subreddit and I am in awe. The world seems so amazing (even if it is zoned, and I hate those) but it looks so polished as well. I generally prefer creamy graphics in an MMO but this one just looks so crisp and clear compared to GW2. The combat is slow true, but that feels good to me because I can actually think about what to do next and can just click on the skills instead of pressing shift/alt skill key. I have really short fingers so I click instead. Oh and the crafting is good. I heard that in the higher levels it becomes better. I loved crafting in MMOs, I loved LOTRO's simple crafting and it really made me a crafter/gatherer. There are also som references to other FF games and I actually play them and frequent the subreddit. Haven't really played the original FFs though but I plan to in the near future!
