Dear GiftOfGamers,

Have you ever dreamed of living the life of a peasant, soldier, knight, commander or king in the medieval period? I have. Countless times. It is for this very reason that I often find myself drawn to shows that relate to the medieval era like Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Spartacus and Vikings. There is something about fighting with honor, a freshly smithed sword, a set of hand me down old rusty armor and ripped leather boots that calls out to me.

In the game of Chivalry 2, a game about medieval war combat, I have now put in over 100 hours of playtime as you can see on my Steam profile. I love everything about this game. From the passionate battle cries every night that my poor neighbors have to endure to the sound of my arrow splicing between my enemies and hitting nothing but the tree behind them as the enemy infantry 3ft away charges me down on the recoiling of my bow. I enjoyed every last part of these epic battles. Sometimes I joke that I was born in the wrong century.

Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is a game that allows me to live my dream of becoming a peasant and working my way into making something of myself with my own bare hands. The sandboxed world means I can choose my own adventure and play the game as my heart desires. I’ve read so many reviews about people turning into knights, blacksmith traders, bandits, mercenaries, and even disgraced war criminals. The endless possibilities excite me.

Another cool thing that was added to Mount and Blade II was the ability to marry and have a family. As someone who is thinking about starting a family some day, perhaps there are things that I can learn from this that I can apply to real life or not. There is also people relations and town relations that one can partake in as a ruler. The world maps look gorgeous. You can even create all of the weapons for your armies and use them in gigantic player vs player strategic real time war battles. When I long for a different style of combat there are also 1 on 1 death matches I can participate in in the style of a gladiator fighting in a grand coliseum like that of Spartacus or a jousting tournament like in Game of Thrones.

I understand that this game is not for everyone. There are some parts of this game that other games do much better such as the politics and NPC dialogue, but I’m okay with these shortcomings. The combat in Mount and Blade II is realistic and top notch for a medieval setting game. I’ve heard it being compared to Kingdom Come Deliverance, Mordhau and Chivalry. In Mount and Blade II you fight like a real human and not as an elite immortal. It makes the game feel very vulnerable and realistic to me. I would say the combat and the ability to create my own adventure are the two main reasons I would like to play this game.

Now this is where I ask for your help to acquire this masterpiece of a game. As someone who missed out on the first Mount and Blade game I don’t want to repeat the same mistake and live life without having played Mount and Blade II Bannerlord.
