Hello again, all you lovelies
So, RPG Maker MZ is not exactly a game but a game making tool so I've always felt a bit anxious asking for this, still I can at least try. RPG Maker MZ is currently on sale for 50% off so I thought why not, the worst that can happen is not getting it.
I love writing and games and I eventually came to the conclusion that I really want to make a game. Game-making is more than just a thing to do, it is one of only a few emotional outlets for me. I would love to even one day make a game that other people play and enjoy.
RPG Maker MZ is a tool that allows you to easily make your own games with no coding knowledge and you can do a lot with it with a bit of time and skill. I already have RPG Maker MV, the previous version of this program, and using MZ during a month trial allowed me to actively compare them. This is why I want MZ so much.
I know a lot of people will ask, why do I want MZ when I already have MV? Well, MV is good but it's not the most reliable program. I know some of it is my decade old desktop computer held together with hopes and dreams but MV has also always had stability issues. Freezing and crashing at random times and making you lose progress. I had to adopt the Skyrim method of just saving every 5 minutes in fear of losing my work and even then I've lost things so MV can be very frustrating to use. MZ has vastly improved stability and for the month that I demoed it I literally can't recall ever having a problem with it crashing or freezing. That alone made me want it but then there's also Map Layers.
Map Layers is an old feature that was removed from rpg makers ages ago (before my time but it was much loved) and MZ actually added it back! Map Layers lets you make game maps by specifically choosing which layer, out of 4 layers, you want to place things on so they don't intersect or delete other things. Because of this you can make much more complex and interesting maps without needing to add features through plugins. Plugins are Company/Community made add-ons to the game maker's code that expands on what you can do, but a lot of them cost money. Besides Stability and Map Layers they also made using plugins in general easier to use with simple menus instead of needing to employ written out command codes that you can easily mess up and cause glitches.
I know these aren't big differences to a lot of people but to me it's the difference between wanting to use something a handful of times to wanting to use it all the time, that's how different using MZ made me feel from MV.
If you're interested in knowing more about the differences between MV & MZ you can check out this [POST] which had someone who was even more spirited than me, lol.
Now, here's the big question. Am I going to make an actual game and sell it? Gonna be honest, I have no idea. I'd start with free games but that would definitely be one of my dreams. 95% of indie devs never release anything, though not for lack of trying. I currently have 2-3 game ideas I'm very passionate about but whether they pan out is another matter since life could always get in the way. Mentioning this will probably not inspire confidence but I prefer to be realistic. If I ever actually sell a game you'd definitely be on the top of the list for a free copy.
I hope someone will consider this request.
Also, I get why it's not allowed but it's unfortunate steam doesn't allow wallet transfers because on my side it's technically another 5% off, making it only 36$ because of the MV&MZ bundle discount.
