Many fans on this subreddit aren't particularly excited for the 2017 live-action film.
Most of us will probably see the film at some point or another; by now, though, expectations are generally low and seem to fall lower with every new trailer release.
It could be an interesting project to create a completely fan-made "alternative" Ghost in the Shell film from existing films/anime that uses a similar (hopefully better) plot as the 2017 live-action film. Maybe it could even debut online on the same day.
In the meantime, what would you recommend to watch instead of the live-action film if you're not interested in a "Hollywood" version of Ghost in the Shell?
(Assume that we've all seen the 1996 anime by now, of course.)
