Locations: gorgeous, but not the Ghost in the Shell aesthetic.
Several people have pointed this out. The film's backgrounds, cityscapes and settings look amazing in the trailer. But they don't match the lived-in, intentionally non-glamorous style from Ghost in the Shell.
Batou: optics the cyberpunk equivalent of googly eyes.
Also, "puny" was a good word to describe the 2017 film version of Batou, not massively imposing in the slightest.
Kusanagi: chubby, body made of CG.
Scarlett Johannson looks like the usual version of herself with a Kusanagi haircut. At least, that's when her torso isn't replaced by a CGI body double that obviously isn't her. Johannson is definitely not naturally athletic, and clearly didn't physically train at all for this role. (See the featurette for the film at the 54-second mark.) An untrained Kusanagi is perplexing to say the least.
Kusanagi Motoko is a soldier. No, she's a cybernetic super-soldier. Her body is supposed to be muscular -- it's a symbol of the fact that she is physically several levels beyond a normal human. A chubby (or non-athletic) Kusanagi makes no sense visually, or in terms of the story.
Oh, and an extra point: Beat Takeshi looks nothing whatsoever look Chief Aramaki. He just looks like the usual Beat Takeshi, casually wielding guns and expressionlessly going about his cool yazuka-style business. None of which fit the Aramaki character at all.
It's hard to tell what they're going for with the 2017 Hollywood version of Ghost in the Shell. With this level of budget, they could have just thrown the money at the Wachowskis and asked them to make a fourth Matrix movie. They probably would have done something weird with it, but Matrix Weird is infinitely better than Snow White and the Huntsman Average.
