Sup everyone!
As stated in the title, you can now flair your submissions by clicking the "flair" button underneath your post after you submit it. This will help keep the subreddit organized, by making posts stand out from others, depending on what you're looking for.
It would be helpful if you would FLAIR ALL POSTS for easier subreddit viewing. This is by no means a commandment, but it will help the organization of the subreddit.
Also, you can now choose from one of quite a few User Flairs, which are images that go next to your username to give a bit of uniqueness to your profile. For instance, mine is the General 5 logo.
Now, here's what I want from you guys: What flairs do you think the subreddit should have? Image flairs are easy to do, so what GRP/GRO related image do you think we should have? Also, what link flairs are missing?
Side Note: I'm working on getting text working for user flairs. CSS is an absolute bitch, so it might take a while, but I'll get there :)
Let's move on to the rules. As you can see, there are several rules in the sidebar:
Moderators will remove:
- Content unrelated to Ghost Recon Phantoms
- Posts that do not follow reddiquette
- Spam
- Blatant advertising or self promotion
- Inflammatory, violent or naming and shaming threads.
- Tech support questions. Send them to our Support team
What do you guys think of these rules?
I have had to remove quite a few posts due to the
Inflammatory, violent, or naming and shaming threads
rule.
Let me explain what this means. Threads like "look at this obvious hacker" will probably be removed, depending on the circumstances. I am fine with an obvious "hacker account (e.g. "GRPhacks201504" being posted, but I would rather not see them. They add nothing to any discussion. The correct thing to do would be to send the link to the support team.
Threads where relatively prominent members of the community are being accused of cheating will be removed. This ALWAYS leads to witch hunts, whereby people will see the video, and then start harassing the player and his friends in-game. I have seen this happen countless times, and it gets really annoying.
Aside from that, pretty much anything goes. I will be leaving the
No Tech Support Questions
rule up, but Tech Support posts are fine. Just want to encourage players to contact Support before the subreddit.
So, what do you think of the rules? Are they good, bad, or slightly in-between?
Now a small tutorial: HOW TO GET BANNED FROM THE SUBREDDIT
- Post/advertise hacks
- Start multiple extremely inflammatory threads
- Attacking another user excessively
- Posting very NSFW/NSFL posts (i.e. porn), although this is also a violation of rule number 1 - "No content unrelated to Ghost Recon Phantoms"
Let me be clear about the last one: pictures of people drawing phallic shapes on walls with their guns is fine :P Anything unrelated to GRP that is NSFW/NSFL will probably result in a ban.
If you would like to contact me, feel free to send me a PM, however, I would recommend using the ModMail feature of reddit, so it's clear that you're talking about this subreddit.
To send a ModMail, click on the "Message the Moderators" button in the sidebar above the "Moderators" section. This will allow you to send a ModMail. If you are ever banned, and wish to overturn or get an explanation, please send a ModMail. They are separate from normal mail, and are very noticeable, so they are the best way to contact the Moderators.
Thanks for reading, please leave any feedback below!
Addendum: If you ever feel like a post is breaking the rules, report it with the "Report" button under the post, select "Other" and enter the reason, unless, of course, it's breaking one of reddit's rules, which are the other options on the report form.
