One of the best games I’ve ever played was hidden & dangerous. It was a 3rd person and first person tactical shooter much like ghost recon where you controlled a team of 4 and used stealth or went in guns blazing to tackle missions. The ai was pretty shit but what made the game amazing is that you could control any teammate at anytime during the mission. You could also issue commands and setup separate fire teams.
For instance, you can take control of the sniper and have one teammate follow you for back up and find a good position and vantage point. Then immediately switch to your stealth guy and have the other teammate follow you and infiltrate. You could switch to your sniper at anytime to take out hostiles and then switch back to your stealth guy and infiltrate all while having backup. Then switch to your demo guy who was with stealth guy and blow up the objective.
This is just one example. The ai doesn’t need to be smart because your doing most of the precision work while the ai is just backup. Whatever guy you are not controlling is controlled by the ai and there were different firing disciplines you could set. Fire all out or only fire if fired upon. It was so fun because you got to play as all the classes and be very specific on how you tackle a mission. Its like coop with yourself. I think this would be the best solution for the ai in break point but I don’t know how hard that would be to implement.
I love wildlands and I played it all coop and I’ll probably do the same for break point but I think this would be a great solution for the ai. I only usually play with one friend coop so it would be cool to have 2 other ai teammates we could switch to for different purposes. If you got downed you could switch to your ai teammate and revive yourself for instance. Just my 2 cents.
