I brought this up in another thread here. But I decided to write a little more in-depth about it. Because im deployed, I havent been able to play PvP yet, but I have played the Beta. I do keep up-to-date on whats going on in the game and I do watch streamers when I have the time. I hope you guys find this thread intresting to read and I hope u/UbiKeeba and the team can take some of this into consideration. Ill see you guys on the battlefield in a month.
Issue - So the main issue that everyone is having in PvP is the "Thermal Vision." What I read on Reddit and the Ubi-Forms is that they are OP. Apperiently snipers can see players that are open in the foliage, Drones can use the Thermal Vision, and Thermal Vision in 3rd person has some outragous range. Update Ubisoft has solved a temporary issue by limiting the range. In my opinion this is a very smart move.
Solution/Ideas There are many solutions and idea's that I have thought of. I will explain in detail how this can be accomploished. Hopefully you like the solution and ideas.
1.) Thermal Vision
Create a temorary fix. (Already established.)
a. While people are enjoying the game, there are other ways to establish and balance out Thermal vision. This comes down to how detailed you want to be. I believe you should be able to go into "thermal" mode in 3rd person, but have a very limited range and IF you have thermal vision equiped besides Night Vision. You should not be able to possess both due to balancing issues.
While Normal vision should always be equiped. Players should be able to choose between Night Vision goggles and Thermal Vision Goggles. This should be placed under the Accessory Tab, Helmet Tab, and adding and additional tab inside the helmet tab call Helmet Accessories.
b. Helmet accessories would be a tab that further enables the player to customize their character. The ONLY gameplay difference you would have, would be which type of "Vision" you wanted. Other than that you could equip Camera's, infrared helmet beacons, extra battery pack etc. All these items would be cosmetic.
2.) NPC's
To combat and balance out "Thermal Vision", you need to have NPC's (Animals and Civilians) walk around the battlefield.
Killing a "Civilian" should pentilize your points you get when playing PvP. The battle is between your team and the other team. Take your shots wisely.
3.) New Weapon Optics
- While you have limitations on your 3rd person Thermal vision, scopes usually dont allow you to aim with thermal vision on. You would need to flip your goggles up then aim down your sites. This increases your aim down sight time. This can be countered by adding Thermal scopes to the game. (ex. Armasight Zeus 160) Although you cant see thermal around you in 3rd person, you will be able to see farther with a scope, but limits your field-of-view. If you have both Thermal Goggles and a Thermal scope on, Your aim time will still be increase due to having to flipping up your goggles first.
I hope u/UbiKeeba has more of a picture of what I was talking about. I look forward to seeing your comments and opinions.
