Married German Grandfather
Post Body

My great great great grandfather:

He married in Germany, all his children were born there, all were German Reich citizens.

He left to USA in mid 1880s with his family. He got land in USA to farm. He passed away in USA too.

His daughter married a US citizen, my great great grandfather.

Is my claim to German citizenship ended since his daughter married in 1888 a US citizen?

Was it even possible to have dual citizenship back then? Knowing her, i believe she would have kept both if it were allowed by law in Germany.

Can anyone provide input??
