I've been living in Germany for the last 3 years, I learned most of the language here and made the "telc C1 Hochschule" and went directly into Uni, bad decision, I ended up not passing any of my classes and started again in another Uni after a year. I'm doing better but I'm still struggling a lot.
I have no problems with grammar, it's mostly vocabulary and listening comprehension what I'm struggling with. When German people are talking among themselves I can't understand absolutely anything and this has become a problem socially and academically. For the vocabulary I have tried Anki flashcards, Duolingo, and reading books with and without translating the words, reading was specially frustrating because of the amount of words I didn't know. And for listening I've tried watching movies and tv shows, but I have problems even identifying the words.
I have realized that I perfected my english to a point where I at least can understand almost everything by using the internet in english instead of my mother tongue, but whenever I start reading an article in german and see all those words I don't recognize I find it so overwhelming.
I have to admit that due to frustration and lack of organization in my life I haven't tried any of the methods for extended times. Now I'm trying to be more organized and have a daily schedule, so if anyone could help me create some sort of practice routine that would help me a lot, general tips are also very welcomed.
On a sidenote, do you think is worth it to get enrolled in a Volkshochschule and start from B2 or something like that?
Thank you!
