I have Hammer's Grammer but I need a second grammar book in case I want to go over a subject from the perspective of another book. What book that is rather detailed like Hammer's would you recommend?

I also need at least two exercise book to practice. If you guys can help, I would much appreciate it. I want to note that I only seek to learn to read in German and I do not care much about speaking it, as I will mainly use the language as an academic research tool.
