It is the interpretation of the average person to perceive that following the outbreak of civil war in Syria and conflicts in Africa that the European Migrant Crisis in 2015, migratory trends have declined in recent years. But that cannot be further from the truth. Mass migration to Europe has not stopped, not in the slightest, it has in fact grown in recent trends despite relatively low number of border crossings in Europe.
The reason why Europe is seeing less migrants despite rising migration trends is that the EU has been effectively outsourcing migrant detention to other countries, such as Morroco, Tunisia, the UAE, Azerbaijan, and of course, Turkey. Billions of euros went into the hands of Erdogan’s government which helped mitigating economic damage by the refugee influx and assist in Turkey’s militarization and development. A total of 6 billion dollars were sent to Turkey in exchange for keeping the refugees out of sight and out of mind.
While we laugh at the insensibilities of Europeans being so scared of foreigners they are willing to pay billions of dollars to get them away. Mansur Yavas and his government has observed a golden opportunity Erdogan has not previously exploited, which not only would present a economic revival of Turkey and ease the burden of our refugee problem, while also help ourselves in the meantime. It is essentially a fact that the EU will not accept refugees in workable numbers to deal with our refugee influx and that many of these refugees are coming to the realization that they might not be able to cross into Europe, thus becoming a more long term problem for Turkey.
Thus we will host a summit with the EU dealing with the question of the refugees in which in order to provide assistance to the refugees proper, giving them “acceptable” housing, resources and goods in order to enter the Turkish workforce as cheap labor, as well as a wider EU bailout of the Turkish economy, we ask for a starting negotiatory yearly payment of €18 billion Euros. This money will help in boosting Turkish construction, manufacturing, electronic and other civillian sectors. It is a politically risky move however as the Turkish public also do not want more refugees to enter Turkey and how the funding will be distributed is also in question. However, it is one Yavas is willing to take for the sake of Turkish prosperity.
