President Bounouira made renewed support of the Sawahri people and general self-determination a priority of his populist administration. Now he has seen fit to ramp up these initiatives to ensure his reelection and continued popular support.
Following the agreement of this initiative between the President and the head of the intelligence service, a task force has been set up to construct the People’s International Radio, a station that will be broadcast across Western Europe and North Africa. Programs will feature in Arabic, French, Spanish, English and Italian. Its primary focus will be conducting interviews with activists for various movements and discussions on the state of self-determination initiatives internationally. It will focus particularly on the Polisario Front and the Hirak Rif Movement, conducting interviews that discuss the atrocities committed by the Moroccan government against these groups. To ensure that it is not as obvious who is running the operation, there will also be segments devoted to other groups, such as Kosovo, Palestine and the Muslim movements in southern Thailand. Hopefully, this will stir up domestic dissent and international backlash against the Moroccan regime, as well as bolster support for Bounouira’s populist agenda.
To further legitimise it, a social media presence will be setup for the radio station, spoofing its location to appear to be run out of Spain. It will post short shareable soundbites and video clips of interviews with activists and footage of state brutality from all over the world, not just Morocco. Using algorithms it will attempt to promote this videos to moderate left-wing circles, increasing the likelihood that prominent social media and celebrity figures will share it.
