Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine
In full conjunction with the National Police of Ukraine as well as the National Guard, following the blatant corruption charges moving throughout the country, the President along with Minister Arsen Avakov have vowed to take "necessary measures in the right direction" to stop the largest threat that was eating the country; itself.
Working closely with Minister Serhiy Marchenko of the Ministry of Finance, Minister Avakov has created "extensive measures" to bolster the National Police (NPU) including the inclusion of assets and personnel from the State Security Administration and the National Agency of Corruption Prevention. In this, Minister Avakov will have a blank cheque with no expenses spared.
The Arrests
Over the past 4 months, the NPU have rapidly arrested individuals across the country which comes at no surprise following the clearly trumped trial of one of Ukraine's richest men. The arrests included 12 active deputies of the Batkivshchyna as well as the previous Chairman of the Rada, Dmytro Razumkov, a man deemed as the "7th Most Influential Man in Ukraine." This high profile arrest came ahead of not only the referendum but further, the results led the President and every member of the cabinet as targets.
Audits were being conducted on every single member of the Rada and the Cabinet including the President himself, all except for one man, his business associates and his family members. Arsen Avakov, the Minister of Internal Affairs himself.
Major reforms were underway as the following members of cabinet as well as previous holders of office were charged for falsifying tax information, tax evasion and corruption charges for abuse of power.
Oleksii Reznikov - Vice Prime Minister (replaced by Maryna Stanislavivna)
Denys Maliuska - Ministry of Justice (replaced by ex-director on National Agency of Corruption Prevention, Oleksandr Novikov)
Oleg Urusky - Ministry of Strategic Industries (replaced by Ihor Kolomoyskyi)
Oleksandr Turchynov (ex-Acting Prime Minister and ex-Acting President)
Ex-Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk, an extremely vocal anti-corruption advocate called for these reforms to continue and offered his own assistance back in government, an offer that was leading up to his replacement of President Zelensky in the next election of 2030. It seems the country was truly turning a new leaf, even if it was lashing out against its own party.
Those in the Servant of the People, the largest and current incumbent party, saw great protest to these charges, significantly of ex-President Turchynov, calling it a power-play from Zelensky to distance himself while vilifying those that stood up in the most violent time of Ukrainian history since the Second World War.
The Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, has also openly disagreed with these charges and in protest resigned along with fellow Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. His replacement will come within the month.
