Another Day, Another Dollar

As the Islamic Liberation Group grows, its influence also must, especially in Mali, where we plan to operate on a daily basis. We are increasing the gunrunning operations for Tuaregs in Mali which means an increased conflict, but that isn’t enough, as our enemies are distracted it becomes the perfect time for our islamic insurgency to increase our efforts to lull people in.

The Armed and Security Forces of Mali

The forces of Mali are trained mostly by France, composed of 7,350 men plus 4,800 paramilitary forces. Having a budget of US$68 million and a procurement of US$5 million, they are supplied by Bulgaria, China, France, Russia and etcetera, with small arms that go from AKMs to MAS-49, Zastava M77 B1 and others. A small air force and an abysmal quantity of artillery and MBTs, with the MBTs that are present being outdated tanks from the Cold War.

Most importantly, the Malian army, much like the armies of other African nations, are ripe with corruption, lack of satisfaction, small salaries, undisciplined young men or simply people that have been conscripted to work for the army, without a real option of what to do. This means that it is perfect for subversive activities and attracting potential recruits or assets inside the army.

Attracting New Men

There are several angles that we need to play in order to efficiently attract new members to our organization, it is not enough to simply attract a soldier through money, some are attracted by their faith, others by the intense dissatisfaction with their nation; others are attracted by power, glory and other means. We will be recruiting soldiers from the Malian army by using these weaknesses that each man possesses, using our propaganda machine, which means that we will launch a dozen different propaganda ‘offensives’ into a recruitment drive from the Malian army.

For those that are attracted by money, we will exploit their corruption by offering to double or even triple their salaries. Those with a desire for faith will have imams preach for them, they will receive islamic books and an islamic education and radicalization under wahhabism and salafism. Those that are dissatisfied with Mali will have their anger fueled by massive propaganda showing the inefficiency of the current government, the poverty-stricken nation and other propaganda that is devised to wrench the hearts of those that feel for their nation. Those that are power-hungry will be shown how they can attain power, being promised levels of power after a certain amount of time, taught and groomed for leadership positions and etcetera.

The deserters will be screened and will then be trained into proper islamic soldiers, undergoing basic training, receiving their ranks and being fostered into the ideal islamic warrior that we not only desire, but need arduously. They will be given shelter, food and education.

Attracting New Guns

The Malian army needs to be sucked from the inside with a clever tactic of hiring men to act as sleeper agents inside. Using the tactics previously mentioned, we will attract these men to sell us weaponry from depots, including small arms, anti-tank weaponry, artillery and mortars. We will also attempt to weaken their capabilities with their own MBTs by buying spare parts and ammunition from it. We can actually use the tank’s ammunition to develop IEDs, the spare parts will probably be resold to another nation or group at a higher price.

We will pay these soldiers a vast quantity and/or exploit their other desires, such as religious, dissatisfaction, power and etcetera. We will encourage our propaganda groups and our agents to do their best to exploit the hearts and minds of these soldiers wherever possible.

Doing the Switcheroo

As we get deserters from the Malian army inside of ours, we will send faux deserters into their army, using the infiltration companies we will have men inside their army at all times reporting back to us and feeding them false information, this information will include the ILG being set at the moment in Senegal and western Mauritania instead of up north of Mali, giving the enemy’s army a false idea of our location and making it easier for us to set ourselves up in the far north, where it is harder to notice.

Our men will be instructed to give us information about the Malian army, their composition and they will be informed to explode Malian military bases when the time comes for our troops to do an offensive against the nation. We will send soldiers that are fluent in French and know the nation, maybe even native Malians if any are currently in the Infiltration Company.
