The Algerian government proposes that Mali and Niger will join the Union of Northern Africa.

These countries will be the last to join the UNA for the time being (approximately for the next 10 years) (except if the situation in Sudan changes).

All these countries have a reasonable stable government and are located next to other UNA members.

If the countries would join, it would greatly strengthen the UNA, both militarily and economically. It would also greatly improve stability in the region, and it would be easier in the future to fight criminals, rebels and terrorists. This would mean that it will be less needed to call in the help of western nations and instead be more independent from their historically colonial overlords.

Another benefit is that the countries can exert more diplomatic influence because they are now able to act together with the UNA as a front.

As president Abdelaziz Bouteflika says in his speech:

"Today is the beginning of a new era. An era in which Africa is a strong economic power, in which it has great stability, in which it is democratic, Africa will be a true world power; A continent that isn't dependent on western countries. Only then will Africa be truly equal.

Look at the USA, the EU, Russia, China, India. All of those countries are world powers. All of those countries were once splinters in small pieces, but together they became powerful.

That is why Africa must also become more unified and now we have the chance to do so and change the world in the progress, mark my words!

Of course is the UNA just the beginning and it's a long and painful process but I believe in the power of our nations, in the power of Africa!
