Corruption is widespread in Africa and is considered normal by most people. The Algerian government has decide to change this en stop the corruption in their country, which causes the state to lose income.

One of the main reasons that civil servants are corrupt is that they aren’t payed enough. To remove this, the Algerian government has decide to raise all civil servants income by 10% (excluding civil servants who make more than 1.5 times the average income).

Another reason that so many civil servants are corrupt is that it is barely punished. To show people that it is punishable by law, the Algerian government has decided to form a special anti corruption task force (ACTF).

The last main reason that corruption is widespread, is that corruption is considered normal by most people. To inform people that it isn’t, the Algerian government has decide to make posters, flyers and tv spots. This should also cause people to report corrupt civil servants.

A last incentive for people to report corrupt civil servants is that people will get half of the money that the civil servant stle that time (only for that one time, not for others).

If these measures are effective, Algeria will also propose these to UNA. Other countries are of course welcome to adopt these measures.
