Curious if anyone has ideas of getting more involved with the AT trail community?

Post Body

I have friends who volunteer and help run things for the Florida Trail and she’s developed a wonderful community over the years in doin that. I’m in Gainesville GA, and I’m trying to find something similar. The AT would obviously be the closest major trail, so trying to find opportunities there. But open to other parks or trails too!

The main thing is, I can’t be doing lots of manual labor type work due to a connective tissue disorder (I have a lot of chronic pain and joint issues). Im not super great at thinking outside the box with these types of things so figured I’d crowd source. Sooo maybe you have done something in the past or volunteered with a particular group that you enjoyed? Let me know!

I’ve done trail magic a few times as well, and keep wanting to do it more but just generally don’t know where the best places would be to go, etc and can also jus be really shy going it alone. Bit of an introvert so it’s def hard to put myself out there, but I always feel happiest when I’m with the trail community, so I’m trying to jus get out there. I’ve been craving community so much lately.

Any tips or ideas would be appreciated. :)
