She's an utter dickhead. Don't misunderstand, while I've always disliked her for her more obvious reasons (her constant need for attention, the undeserved princess complex, her unwillingness to ever admit fault) but her behaviour in the first 3 episodes of season 9 pissed me off so much, that I've taken to furiously ranting about it on the internet - a first for me.

A quick recap of the story arc: Marnie is dangling her high maintenance carrot out to get Aaron. To keep her antics at bay and play hard to get, he gets a girls number while the boys are working a double date wrestling thing. (Sidenote: watching Kyle get dropped like a sack of shit by the instructor was the funniest thing I've seen all week. Poor guy looked like he saw the afterlife!)

Anyway, Aaron invites said girl over to Holly's birthday party and when she arrives they chat on for a while. Just chat, mind you. No necking on or even flirting that is shown in camera, but just seeing them chat makes Marnie see red. She kicks off, storms out of the house and has a childish tantrum because Aaron dared to play the game that she's playing herself.

Kyle - being a good long time friend of Marnie's - chases after her to see what's wrong and calm her down. They head back inside and it's like you can see the cogs turning in her head... She grabs Kyle and necks on with him to make Aaron jealous. I'll give her credit cause that was a fucking power move! That was the one thing in that moment that could've caused the most damage. Not just to Aaron, but to everyone in the group. To her bestie Kyle and to Holly who he was vibing with really well... But hey, fuck 'em. Right, Marnie?

So, Kyle starts freaking out once the weight of what happened hits him. The lads boot off at him as if he instigated it. They argue and are as near as makes no difference brawling. Where's Marnie though? Oh, she's back outside with Holly telling her what happened while trying to conceal a shit eating grin!

After launching that grenade, she bails from the house and leaves everyone else to pick up the pieces. The next day, everybody heads to Paris and Kyle, Marnie's "best" friend, has to take the brunt, scratch that, THE ENTIRETY of the fallout (which can't be easy as a newbie) because Marnie can't face the music. What a good friend, eh?

The group return from Paris to find Marnie back in house sporting that shit eating grin as if butter wouldn't melt. She sits down with Aaron and tells him with a straight face "it was because you invited that girl that I didn't get to go to Paris". What a cow. That's some low key abusive language there. I'm so glad Aaron replied with "no, it was cause you kissed Kyle that you didn't get to go to Paris".

Holly and Charlotte were spot on when they had previously said between themselves that in the middle of every argument or bust up, there's Marnie. This rewatch has been eye-opening, they're spot on. If you look for it, she's always there using people as pawns, manipulating them to the point of arguments/fights then revelling in the fallout trying to hide her all-too-pleased-with-herself shit eating grin. Look out for it.

Sorry for the rant, just had to get that off my chest.

TL;DR - Marnie, do one you utter bellend.
