Climbing very high in abyss is the end goal for most people in the game. Im also about 95% sure mihoyo will had leaderboards and seasonal rankings to abyss at some point down the line. Its practically guranteed. This is where my warnings come in based on experience from other gacha games.

Warning: a free to play player has ZERO (0) HOPE in ever competing on that leaderboard with whales. You might not even show in top 10 for the season in all honesty. As power creep gets added to the game whales will be the first to grab these max refined weapons and max con characters. You can't compete with that. Sure you will EVENTUALLY get those weapons and characters, but the season will be over and a new season will begin with new power creeped gear. That's how gachas are, leaderboards are dominated by whales doing ridiculous amounts of damage.

You HAVE to be willing to accept that. I just want to warn people ahead of time because i already smell the storm of rage complaints brewing about p2w.

There is a way to fix it though, and that is to separate people who spent money from people who haven't. But afaik i do not know a gacha game that has this separation, so gl. F2p can still compete for top 100.
