So I posted about overrated bands earlier and got blasted so good how about the most underrated?
I think Little Feat has been ignored by far too and they are fantastic. Fat Man in the Bathtub is a classic as is Willin. They have been ignored by the rock n roll hall of fame for reasons unknown. Awesome live.
And artist Graham Parsons. Parsons, a former member of the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers who dreamed of creating a utopian genre that he called “cosmic American music,”. He actually pioneered country rock and duets with Emmylou are some of the best harmony you’ll hear. His death and the stealing of his body and casket pure rock n roll. Trivia he wrote The Rolling Stones classic Wild Horses.
Little Feat is probably my favorite 70s band. There are a lot of older artists I loved but just got tired of-for example, I'm fine never hearing another Lynyrd Skynyrd song, even though I loved them growing up. But I don't think I'll ever get tired of Lowell George.
This is correct-a New Orleans sound.
If you grew up in DC in the 70s you may recall a local artist-Root Boy Slim. His big "hit" was "Boogie Till you Puke." Anyhow, the brother of a good friend of mine was in that band. He went on to become a graphic artist and designed quite a few album covers for Little Feat. Mostly stuff released after Lowell George died, but still cool.
I saw Mother's Finest open for the Allman Brothers in the 70s. Mother's Finest blew the Allmans out of the water.
Yes! Not just underrated. Virtually unknown.
Totally. Live at Yankee Stadium is a masterpiece.

I grew up in the Deep South, and so it was all Southern Rock (Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, etc.). Little Feat was a bit of an oddity, as they weren't from the South and IMHO didn't really fit squarely in that category. But damn I love them. Waiting For Columbus might be the best live album ever made.
