Asking for advice- Where is a spot I can jump in?

I want to get into general hospital, but with nearly 50 seasons and over 12k episodes (oh dear), I don't know where a good season to jump in is. I don't want it to be a too recent one meaning I catch up to quickly, and while starting from the beginning would be nice, I don't know of a place I can watch those 1960's episodes (plus, well, hard to talk with fans when I'm 50 seasons behind). So any advice on a good jump in point?
