How much of a referral bonus

I picked up a good size side job on the referral from someone I did work for about 2 years ago. Without this guys praise I would have never gotten this work. I will make out pretty good money wise.
I was thinking of kicking the guy 200.00 . Just sending him a gift card in the mail so he can't refuse it.
What would you be expecting? What do you think is fair.
