I yDNA-matched on 12 markers with people who have my surname (or variations of Petit) as well as a descendant of the 1st Earl of Douglas and several people from Norway, one from Sweden, and one from Denmark. Does that mean we were mostly likely Normans or Vikings? I spoke to Lord Douglas today, and he suggested I communicate with the Court of Lyon. I believe the coat of arms used by my ancestors was a single red lion rampant, which according to Internet genealogy was also used by one of the Douglasses' ancestors. I don't know how true this is, though. I'm waiting for a response from the Court of Lyon.
