Post Body

I'm trying to research my direct paternal ancestry. My surname is Pettis, but I've matched with several Pettit, Pettitt, and a Pettus. I think the original name was from the French Petit, but I could be wrong. According to genetic homeland, I share an ancestor within the past couple thousand years with people who can trace their Ancestry to Schleswig-Holstein (Germany/Denmark), Devon, England, and Eastern Cape, SA (as well as the Southern US, where I am). What would be the most probable origin? I'm not sure if we were French Huguenots or Normans or something else. My yDNA haplogroup is I-FT384391. Thanks!
