Hello! I've hit a brick wall and I'm hoping that maybe one of you lovely people could help me out, maybe just point me in a new direction.
My 6th great grandfather is a man by the name of Charles Nathan Bailey and many years ago he was a brick wall for my brother and I. Long story short, we thought we finally figured out who his parents were but my brother was doing some digging the other night and realized that we were wrong.
Charles was born 10 October 1767 in New Jersey (Monmouth, I believe). We found a baptism record for him which states that his parents names were John and Susanna Bailey. When we first were looking into this, we thought this may be John Bailey and Susanna Lowell of Rowley, MA. However, my brother found a book on the Early Settlers of Massachusetts and in it, John Bailey, all his wives (he was married 4 times) and all his children are documented but there is no Charles Nathan. Additionally, both John and Susanna were born and died in Rowley, MA and I don't see anything that states they ever lived anywhere other than MA. Besides that, Susanna died in MA in 1767 (the year Charles was born) giving birth to a daughter.
I've been trying to find records of Baileys in New Jersey but I haven't found anything about him yet. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Is there something I'm missing? Any help is appreciated! :)
ETA (in case it helps):
Charles Nathan Bailey B. 10 Oct 1767 in Monmouth, NJ D. 05 Feb 1855 in Ohio He married Martha Brasier in 1800 in NJ
