About to inherit my family’s records and I’m kind of freaking out.

Post Body

Hello all!

My aunt is currently in the end stages of pancreatic cancer and is most likely in her final days. She is currently the family genealogist and has passed the torch to me. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to go over anything as everything has happened so quickly so I’m not sure where to begin, what information I’ll be getting, what information she’s already found, etc. I can’t ask her any questions either because the cancer has spread to her brain and she isn’t lucid enough to have conversations. I’m pretty sure she has files and things on her laptop but I’m not sure if that’s going to be included in the materials I’ll be receiving.

If anyone has gone through something similar and can offer advice or any questions I need to be asking, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you.❤️

ETA: This is obviously not my first priority. My family and I are all here to spend as much time as possible together and with her. I’m sorry if this post came off as such.
