So I'm confused about one of my lines that allegedly descends from William Randolph (1572-1660), an ancestor of the notable Randolph family of Virginia.
I decent from Frances Jackson (1762-1797) and her husband Soloman Levi (1762-1825). Frances' parents are listed on numerous sites as Joseph Jackson (1735-1797) and Martha Tinsley (1730-1799). The problem is that there are no records that state her last name as Tinsley and there isn't even a marriage record. Someone on Ancestry posted the will of Joseph Jackson and there are a couple on Tinsleys mentioned (link here: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ky/lincoln/wills/j250001.txt )
Further down the line, Ancestry and FS say Martha was the daughter of Isaac Tinsley and Margaret Rucker. Isaac's parents are listed as Thomas Tinsley and Sarah Jackson. Thomas' parents are listed as Thomas Tinsley and Elizabeth Randolph. And finally, Elizabeth's parents are listed as William Randolph and Elizabeth Smith.
William and Elizabeth did have a daughter named Elizabeth according to the William and Mary College Quarterly, Vol. 7, 1899, pp 122-124 & pp. 195-197 (Link: https://archive.org/details/williammarycolle7189will/page/122/mode/2up ). However,it says Elizabeth married --- Burkett and not Thomas Tinsley.
So I'm kind of on the fence about this so I want some second opinions on this. I left this line blank for a while as I was skeptical. Any help would be appreciated!
