A Boy Named Tooter

Had a funny misunderstanding with my mom recently, talking about a relative with the nickname “Tooter”.
Her: “I wonder what was going on in 1943 when he was born?”
Me: You mean 1929?
Her: “No he was born in 1943”
….turns out 2 men who were first cousins both had a nickname of Tooter in central Texas. Anyone have thoughts?
The fart jokes have already been made; I’m just curious if there was a cartoon strip character, etc where this could’ve come from.
