Raised by the following rules/wisdom (Part 1)
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. -Mom
A little dirt never hurt. (Aka 5/10 second rule) -Grandma
Bleeding is natures way of cleansing the wound. -Grandma
Suck it up buttercup. -Dad
Go play outside (Aka, the creek, pond, field, in traffic on your bike) -Dad/Mom/Grandparents
Cut me a switch (go find an appropriately thin, greenwood stick which was used to beat your ass/ back of your legs with after misbehaving)
I don’t want to have to paddle you, but you made your mom cry. -Dad
After pulling into a c-store parking lot (get me a pack of Marlboro reds, the hard pack, here’s some money) -Mom/Dad
We’ll put some mercurochrome (a toxic anti microbial) on that cut. It’ll be fine in no time. -Granparents/Old doctors
“What’s that smell?”, “They’re spaying with DDT.” (DDT was a pesticide that is considered a persistent organic pollutant)
Some of the more basic things.
