Do "zero" sodas make anyone feel sick?
Post Body

I started drinking Coke Zero a few years ago since I'm a soda junky and I need to get my caffeine from somewhere. I think coffee tastes like shit. I wanted to cut back on my sugar intake to lose some weight. I was also drink the ICE drinks that had caffeine in them.

It worked OK for a while for while then last year I started having chest pains. I thought "oh shit, here we go". I was stressed from work, I rarely get more than 6-7 hours of sleep, so I thought I was working on a heart attack. I got an EKG, a stress test, and echocardiogram; they said I was fine. Thought it might be GERD, so I had a endoscopy. Nothing. But I kept having the pains in the left side of my chest and would occasionally feel dizzy.

When I had the endoscopy I did a colonoscopy two-fer so I had to change my diet for the prep. No pains. A few days after they started again.

So I start backing off the soda. It goes away. I'm also a zombie because I need that caffeine. I try different teas and different sodas until I figure out it is the Zero sodas (Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, etc) If I drink regular old Coke I don't have any problems.

Had anyone else experienced this sort of trouble with Zero sodas with caffeine?

Comments

Carbonation bothers my stomach other way, so I just avoid sodas all together and stick with low calorie sports drinks that taste good.
