Giving up on Assassin, here's what I learned from roughly 600+ games.
Post Body

First: I'm only lv 490. I've had roughly 600 games with the class. I'm lv 28 with it.

  • The class wants to be in the front spot to take advantage of it's 10% chance to assassinate the back enemy when matching skulls. Trait #3.

  • It further compounds this by poisoning enemies when it matches skulls. Trait #2.

  • It's class weapon poisons when you use it, gives a 10% chance to assassinate it's target, or 20% if it's already poisoned. So you want to use ways to poison your target. Unless you use Plague, Magnus, or something subpar like Poison Master, you'll have to take 2 turns to poison and then use your weapon. Another problem is that immunity to Poison is a very, very common skill.

  • Outside of a lv 70 tier ability (30% dodge skull damage), the class has no way to survive being in the front, and 30% is not that good of odds.

  • It has the ability to start with either Ice or Dark storm. If you're using the class ability, this is useless. If you're using something like Shadow Dragon, the Dark storm is great. But again, poison is useless in Tier 1 Arena, at least in my experience and you have to take 2 turns to do so, and the dagger only gives you a 20% chance.

  • You need Skulls. Currently I'm using Glaycion as he's a beast, and almost all my wins are off his back and my actual class does virtually nothing to help. I'm trying to use Mang since it increases my attack and reduces their armor, which is great, and still gives me the Magic bonus for using a red weapon. However, Mang blocks Brown mana to Glaycion. So production of Skulls slows down.

  • Hunter's Mark randomly targeting on a 4 or 5 match is nearly useless. It targets a random enemy and they can simply recover from it before you even get to them.

Id love to be wrong, but as is, I'm having a hard time building a team that actually uses this class the way it's designed to be used. even in the community website, everyone's suggestions are switching classes or putting the hero further back in the party to just spam it's class weapon.

As is, it's looking like I'll be working on another class. I understand Dragon Guard is a strong class, but playing it is entirely head and shoulders an improvement over Assassin. The supporting troops are better, the talents are better, and the traits actually support your troops. With it, I can take on teams 4k higher than my own in Arena. With Assassin, as is, I'm 50/50 with teams that are on par rating. When trying to do pets, the highest Ive reached with Assassin is the lv 50 stage. With DG, it's nearly a 100% completion rate.

So what next? Mechanist? I do like things that go boom...
