assuming a gears 6 is in the making if epic or whoever has hold of them isn't too obsessed over some other game i had some ideas for what could come for horde mode.

Classic horde: ditching the class system and going back to the horde mode from gears 1-3 facing off against enemies like tickers, reavers, corpsers, regular brumaks, Kantus, boomers, berserkers.

Classic enemies: new horde system just facing the old enemies

new fortifications (returning fortifications):

Barricade; a small placeable wall that gets bigger the more its upgraded in case maps that aren't as focused on cover and more wide open can still have some defenses.

Mounted turret: nothing like the satisfaction of mowing down scions or boomers with the power of a troika turret

Ammo bin: an expensive fortification that generates ammo for people to pick up restoring 50% of their total ammo, each use has a cooldown of 60 seconds so you have to choose if you wanna refill a boomshot, longshot or lancer

Story bosses: a mini-cutscene showing some story bosses showing up like skorge, RAAM, Mira, or Rena assuming we get to fight the new locust queen

True wave 50 bosses: beyond the usual increasing of HP and damage the wave 50 boss could be something like a riftworm from gears 2, a story boss from previous games or a total arena transition to set it more in the bosses advantage while still keeping it possible for players.

Special modifiers every X rounds: could be funny modifiers like the confetti headshots or zero G gore to the bonus enemy modifiers just to keep things on edge, naturally a reward would be given for surviving a round like this.

Old weapons: not sure how many people remember it but i think it was gears 3 where it was a 2 person chaingun that did some absurd amount of damage but needed 2 people to cart the thing around.

Secondary objectives: not like defending the taps or protecting the fabricator if that keeps up, but like executing so many enemies, getting so many headshots or just dealing so much damage in a round for bonus power for everyone.

Fixed fabricator areas: this could be a toggled rule in a horde match but instead of dragging the fabricator around just to see where the taps spawn and dragging it over have it show a sillouette of a fixed location in a wall somewhere where it could be defended from and have the taps spawn as they would from that location.

unique fortifications based on map; could be like a spotter drone for a certain area, a special turret or sentry thats more powerful than usual or a DeeBee deployment for so much power. theres only like one or two spots in either high traffic or out of the way areas with open sight so they could still have reliable uses.
