It finally happened. Maybe a job went bad, maybe you got sloppy, maybe someone snitched, but you and your gang got caught. You are all prosecuted and found guilty of numerous crimes, sentenced to 20 years at the Kurzweil Corrections Institute. This prison isn't like any other, in the Kurzweil institute all inmates live together in virtual reality, their consciousness inside a computer. Upon entry, all prisoners are stripped, decontaminated, and inserted into their own personal protection pod. It holds the prisoner in stasis indefinitely, keeping their body safe while they're in the prison.

The Institute is a rough place. Most of the staff are simply AI, but some of the more senior staff are actual people who control an avatar from the outside world to personally oversee the prison. The prison's existence is top secret and therefore the behavior of staff is totally unaccountable, so abuse runs rampant. Other threats to be faced is forced labour, humiliation, and even prison gangs looking for fresh meat to pick on.

Some members of your gang include:

• Jess, hacker, pilot, all around the brains of the operation.

• Xen, a non binary stealth expert. Introverted and mysterious.

• Tom, outgoing and confident. He's always got a plan up his sleeve.

But there are greater powers at play. Something is very wrong in this prison, worse than all the corruption and suffering. And you're about to end up right in the middle of it all.

• What scale of prison is this? Is it a normal sized institution with a few thousand prisoners, or is it a massive facility hosting thousands (millions?) of prisoners inside of this virtual reality? Or maybe it's a small prison, holding <100 prisoners?

• Who are you? Are you a noble person who's only commiting crimes for good? Or are you someone who completely deserves what they're getting?
