Every interview you been on ended with you hearing the same thing.

The position required someone with a Master's Degree for the job.

What the hell happened to being a hard working go-getter and having experience?

I often heard you go on and on about how it made no sense for a person to have to put themselves in debt for a job nowadays. You was stubborn and stood your ground but with your circumstances, that didn't last for long.

I'm sure having to pay your ex-wife alimony as well as child support for your young son, both of whom who moved several states away, had something to do with that.

I was the first person you told about your decision to go back to school. Being the friend that I am, I told you I had your back no matter what but I also intend on holding your feet to the fire on this. I even hit you with a nostalgic low blow by saying the same thing to you that the Dean said all those years ago.

Then you remembered the thing about college that everyone hates.

College is fucking expensive. It was expensive back when we first were in and it's even more expensive nowadays. Trying to get in and pay semester after semester for a Master's degree was a whole different financial beast itself. Financial aid wasn't going to be enough to cover that and your credit score wasn't in a great spot to apply for a loan without a co-signer. Plus, your personal finances was in the shit thanks to the divorce and monthly payments you now have to make in both alimony and child support. But you was determined to go back. You just needed a lifeline to help you.

Which led to me offering that lifeline. I'm that one type of friend everyone's got who did very well for himself. I was also wise enough not to throw myself into a doomed marriage though I still was there as your best man. Being that I've known you since we were in high school, I know how serious you are about this newfound change you want for yourself.

So I let you know that I'll pay for you to go back to school. But just as school isn't free, neither is my help. And I have a particular payment plan in mind for you to adhere to as well as some stipulations.

Hey folks. Here's a new prompt I'm looking to further flesh out and do with anyone who is interested. Here we got two old friends with one looking to get back into college to get his Master's degree and the other one willing to cover the tuition cost. Nothing is free and for the money that's being spent, the friend who is footing the bill (MC) has a payment plan in mind for the other friend (YC).
