I want to preface this by saying, I already messaged the mods, and they said it was okay to ask this question. And I also want to make it clear: I am NOT looking for a diagnosis. I'm currently in the process of trying to get another gastroenterologist so I can get some testing done, because my last (and first) one switched to a practice outside of my insurance network. I've already had one test done, an upper gi endoscopy and a lower gi colonoscopy, and they came back normal, but i know GP can be missed on those, so I'm willing to try an endoscopy again. And I've tried medication (Omeprazole, because my old gastro dr just thought it was standard reflux) and tums and gaviscon, but nothing works.
I've had symptoms for the past 3 years, today was the worst it's been in a while. I had 10 episodes of reflux(?) in the span of 4 hours. It happens no matter what I eat or drink (even water), and it makes me not want to eat anything so I can prevent more episodes (but I eat anyways). So, I was just wondering if any of y'all had any advice on how to manage my symptoms until I can get further testing, because I am so, so tired of dealing with this shit. Also, general question, has anyone had difficulty with gastroenterologists telling them that their symptoms are just because they're "overweight" (saying that in quotes because the BMI scale is so outdated) or that it can't be GP because they're "too young"? Because I'm 17 (18 in August), and I'm only slightly overweight, but I'm worried that the gastro dr will tell me both those things.
