About 10 days ago I had my first ever flare up. It was horrible I thought I was having a hernia at first then I thought my pancreas was fucked and then realised it was just gastritis from possibly a sudden diet binge. Had been eating really good diet for a few months and binged for like 2-3 days with donuts and all this bullshit.
So immediately I switched to plain rice and chicken egg whites and saltine crackers. A few days later I added in coconut water and full eggs with the yolks. Three days ago I added in plain white bagels and I continued to be fine.
I barely have any symptoms anymore, no pain after eating, some times I get the acid reflux and take gaviscon to counter it. If I eat too big of a meal maybe I’ll get a bit bloated.
So yesterday as an experiment I decided to see what would happen if I switched to some bad foods. I had a pint of Guinness at the beach (I’m Irish and in Thailand) then I went to a cafe had pancakes with eggs bacon and home fries potatoes. Nothing happened. I was a little bit gassy (farts) but I had eating more chicken eggs and added Peanut butter that morning so that may even have been from that.
Today I switched back to my bland diet but I opted to have a croissant this morning. Again nothing happened.
I’m afraid to have coffee again, I feel like this could potentially trigger me. I want to wait until I feel like I’m completely healed.
I must have had a really minor acute flare up, as I’ve read people saying they are in pain for weeks/months after the initial flare up.
I guess I will continue with this bland diet and if a social situation arises I can probably have one “bad” thing with causing a flare.
