I can definitely say this is me.
I had the scopes done a year or two ago, and I believe the diagnosis was "chronic gastritis, negative for H pylori". My symptoms only began after a few months of consuming caffeine pills - never any coffee or tea.
I find that once I back off for a bit or switch to green tea and/or very low levels of caffeine in general, I heal pretty quickly and go weeks and/or months without gastritis symptoms.
But lately, I've been overdoing it with the pills - sometimes having 2 or 3 per day (100 mg tablets).
Currently, I'm sitting here regretting it. Waves of nausea accompanied by burping . The worst part is that antacids like Tums or Pepto do absolutely NOTHING to help the symptoms and might even make the nausea worse!
I know what I have to do, which is quit caffeine altogether and I'm making it my mission to stop.
Can anybody relate, and if so, what did you find helps you with this kind of gastritis and its flareups?
Thanks!
