Hey yall,

I had an EGD done on Wednesday morning and my GI doctor said the issue they found was gastritis. I am so anxious awaiting the results of the biopsy. I had been taking pantoprazole for a while prior to this, because my GP thought it was more than likely GERD and referred me to a GI doctor. I saw him once before my endoscopy and he told me I could either stay on the meds or go off and see what happens but stopping them made me feel bad enough that it was hard to function. So, I stayed on them. After my procedure he told my girlfriend (as I was still feeling loopy from sedation) to have me stop taking the pantoprazole 40 mg twice a day. He then called in a script for omeprazole 40 mg once a day. I have been feeling worse so far since switching meds. I honestly don't know if I should assume I'm feeling worse due to the endoscopy, changing meds, or increased stress. All I ate this morning was a little applesauce and some toast because I thought the pain I was still having could be from the biopsy and when the surgery center called to check on me, I said I was having some stomach pain the nurse told me sticking to bland food at first would lessen irritation at biopsy site. My symptoms in general this whole time have been Shortness of breath, chest tightness/pressure, feels like being squeezed around my ribs, persistent nausea, feeling full after barely eating, pain in my stomach when I'm hungry, etc. When this first started I landed in the Emergency room for a while because my GP was concerned about some of the more ambiguous scary symptoms, they checked my heart and lungs, all of that turned out fine. I am concerned about potential complications from the procedure making me feel worse, but I really don't want to go to the hospital again if they're just going to tell me what I'm experiencing is normal. I have a follow up with my doctor in two weeks and maybe I just need to wait for the meds to start working. What could they even do there if I went to the ER? I just feel so paralyzed. Does anyone have advice?
