Johnson was caught flat-footed today. It happened - and it sure doesn't look great at this critical juncture.
Let's not be vague about increased exposure being a net plus or it being an "opportunity" - IMHO Johnson needs to go on the offensive ASAP and carve right into this issue - namely demonstrating to the American people how his vision of foreign policy could help us avoid humanitarian crises like 'Aleppo' in the first place.
Regime changes in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya have only generated more regional instability and created a power vacuum leading to extremism and civil war. There is more than one 'Aleppo,' if you will, and having perfect recall of specifics is less important than having a broad vision for how the U.S. can avoid these disasters going forward.
Johnson showing humility was refreshing - but agility could be key to making this a libertarian moment and tipping the election. Johnson/Weld is more than a protest vote - it is a serious contrast to Clinton and Trump on this issue.
