Hi all, I'm looking to get a gift for someone and could use some advice. I'm an avid Garmin user (love tracking my dogs with my watch!), but the gift recipient is generally technologically challenged...

She rides often, only on rail trails though and generally with poor cell reception in the mountains.

She bought a Samsung smartwatch specifically to track her rides (she uses mapmyride) but the battery life is terrible as expected using GPS for 10 hour rides. The Garmin watches are too bulky for her to consider - I think it was less than an hour and she decided she hated my Fenix 6s pro due to the size.

I'd love to upgrade her to either the edge 130 plus or 530. The extended battery life on the 530, plus the additional charge pack I could get is a huge difference. I'm concerned the 530 is too complicated for her though as far as features and menus.

I think the size of the 530 is teetering on the edge of too large. She doesn't care much about navigating or checking stats in real time.

Does anyone know if the 130 plus menu is easier to navigate? If it's simplified then I think that wins out, but if they're similar menu styles I'm leaning towards the 530 just for the battery expansion capability alone. I don't think she'd use the live track function, but the accident alert would be a good feature since she sometimes goes riding alone.

Any big features or drawbacks I'm missing between the two? Any feedback on using Garmin connect with mapmyride?
